Home bound

2 Corinthians‬ ‭5‬:‭6‬-‭9‬

“Therefore we are always confident and know that as long as we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord. For we live by faith, not by sight. We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord. So we make it our goal to please him, whether we are at home in the body or away from it.”

‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭5‬:‭6‬-‭9‬ ‭NIV‬‬

We often struggle with understanding God’s will. It can be hard to know what He would have us do sometimes. But often, He doesn’t open the full future to us. He just shows us the next step for our life. As Christians, it’s important to remember that this world is not our home. Our hope is in the Lord’s return. God breathed the breath of life into man, and Adam became a living being. Life is one of the most precious things we have in this world. We desire long life, for a good and challenging life, and a life that is a fulfilled life. There is much research into extending life and combating death, for God set eternity in the heart of man. But there is much intrigue into what happens after death, for death is that looming shadow on the horizon of everyman, and yet the perspective that Paul had on life and death is far removed from the general outlook of humanity. As Christians, we have a confidence that is rooted and grounded in our Saviour Who broke the power of death forever. It is the Lord Jesus Who bestowed life on all who trust Him as Saviour, abundant life, eternal life. What confident assurance we have as believers, that death is not a terror to be feared, but the open door of eternal bliss into the joys of our heavenly home with our Saviour Jesus Christ. We inhabit a terrestrial tent, and while ever we occupy this earthly body, we are unable to be in the presence of our glorified Saviour in heaven. And so in His grace, God has given us His indwelling Holy Spirit as a pledge and guarantee that we will one day be forever with the Lord. The believer not only is well assured by faith that there is another and a happy life after this is ended, but he has good hope, through grace, of heaven as a dwelling place, a resting place, a hiding place. In our Father's house there are many mansions, whose Builder and Maker is God. The happiness of the future state is what God has prepared for those that love Him, everlasting habitations, not like the earthly tabernacles, the poor cottages of clay, in which our souls now dwell, that are mouldering and decaying, whose foundations are in the dust. But for the time being, let us live as unto the Lord, confident in the fact that although we are currently at home in this mortal body and absent from the Lord, the day is coming when we will step into our new celestial home and be clothed with His glorified righteousness, for we shall see Him as He is and know Him as we are known. We can be of good courage because our Lord is coming. We don’t need to be afraid, because we know that God is control and His plan will be carried out. While we wait for the Lord’s return, though, we need to be pleasing Him. We must live by faith and please God “while we are at home in the body.”!!!

Father thank You for this day and amazing grace we have in Christ. Lord open the floodgates of heaven and let Your abundant blessings flow like a river over my friend and family today. Lord the confidence we have in You and Your Word. Lord help us in this life, to walk worthy of the calling You have on us until that wonderful day when we will step out of this earthly sphere into the eternal realms of heaven and be forever with the You. Lord use my friend to be someone’s blessing today. Daddy we love You amen. Be a blessing. Love ya !!
