Worthy Life

Writer: Eddie Cox Eddie Cox

2 Thessalonians‬ ‭1:8-12

“He will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. They will be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might on the day he comes to be glorified in his holy people and to be marveled at among all those who have believed. This includes you, because you believed our testimony to you. With this in mind, we constantly pray for you, that our God may make you worthy of his calling, and that by his power he may bring to fruition your every desire for goodness and your every deed prompted by faith. We pray this so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.”

‭‭2 Thessalonians‬ ‭1:8-12‬ ‭NIV‬‬

What a glorious calling we have in Christ Jesus. Because of our faith in His sacrificial death and glorious resurrection, we are called children of God and have a dear and gracious heavenly Father. In His grace and mercy He has promised to help us in times of troubles and to comfort us in times of distress. Christ died so that we might live and throughout his writings to the Church, Paul emphases the importance of being worthy of our calling, so that by His goodness and grace we are enabled to fulfil every desire for good and to complete the work of faith, which God has started in each of our lives, in the power of His might. As members of the body of Christ who have been redeemed by the blood of the Lamb, we know that the sufferings that we may be called upon to go through in this fallen world cannot be compared with the glories that God is keeping for us in heavenly places. We have a hope in Christ that is steadfast and sure knowing that because we are partakers in Christ's sufferings in this fallen world-system, we will also partake in the consolation that comes from the God of all comforts, to each one of His own. Christ is returning. And when He does, He will punish those who have not believed with everlasting destruction. But His holy people, those who have believed in Him, will marvel and will glorify Him. And because of that, Paul prayed for those in the church at Thessalonica. His prayer was that God would make them worthy of his calling. How often do we get that backward, thinking that we need to make ourselves worthy? But the truth is that we cannot. Only God can make us worthy to stand in Christ’s presence when He returns so that we can glorify Him. And God can do more than make us worthy. He can also empower us, both to live and to serve. How important that by faith we trust in the Lord with all our heart and lean on the whole human personality of God, which is seen in the face of Christ Jesus. How vital that we have absolute trust and confidence in His power, wisdom, and goodness so that we are enabled to walk worthy of His call. How amazing that we are called by God to complete every activity in our life of faith, so that the Name of our Saviour, Jesus Christ the righteous might be glorified in each of us. God is the master builder, working in us to produce His own masterpiece. But He calls on us to come alongside Him and be involved as well. So put on your hard hat, strap on the tool belt, and get to working alongside the Master Builder!!!

Father thank You for this day and for Your mercies that are new every day. Lord open wide the storehouses of Your abundant blessings and let them fall upon my friend and family today. Lord we pray that we and those that are called by Your name, are counted worthy of the calling by which we have been called. Lord we pray that both individually and as the corporate body of Christ, we may fulfil every desire for goodness and holiness of heart so that we may work the work of faith in this fallen world. Lord use my friend to be a bold witness of Your life changing Word to all today. Daddy we love you amen. Be a blessing. Love ya !!
