John 6:39-40
This is the will of the Father who sent Me, that of all He has given Me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up at the last day. And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day. John 6:39-40, NKJV
Jesus simply and plainly states that everyone who looks to Him and believes in Him shall have eternal life. Is it really that simple? Can it be that simple? Of course. Our salvation is a free gift from God. It is not something we can earn. Our sins demand justice, demand punishment. The price we have to pay is eternity in hell. But Jesus paid the price for us; the godly died for the ungodly. And we simply must accept His gift, His free offer of salvation.
We cannot earn salvation, and we cannot do enough good to merit salvation; we simply accept it. However, once we accept that wonderful gift, our lives must change. When we realize the goodness, the graciousness of God, our focus becomes how to honor Him instead of ourselves. And we will want to live as one who shows our gratitude to God, who appreciates His gift, who points others to Him as well, to let them know about this great gift.
So often, people picture God as a surly old man looking for people who mess up so He can punish them. God's will, however, is that all come to salvation. He doesn't want any person to perish. He wants all to know Jesus and find salvation in Him. Jesus is the only way to God. Jesus is the door to a new and lasting life, not a temporary one, whether real or imagined. Jesus is the focus, the hope, and the life behind God's plan.
Learning to believe in Jesus is everything. Learning to see Jesus as God's Son is the doorway to forever. We receive a life that outlasts history and the assurance that nothing can ever conquer us once we belong to Jesus. He will raise us up in victory!!!
Father, thank You for this day and that Jesus is the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end, and that we have been given forever in Him. Lord, open the floodgates of heaven and rain down Your abundant blessings upon us and our family today. Lord, fan our fires of faith and keep them vibrant in us. Lord, help us focus our eyes on You and trust You to lead us home. Lord, give us the wisdom to see through the doubts that Satan places before us. Lord, help us experience the eternal life that begins now and will never end. Lord, use us to share grace and mercy to those in need of it today.
Father, we love You. Amen !
