Isaiah 60:21-22
“Then all your people will be righteous and they will possess the land forever. They are the shoot I have planted, the work of my hands, for the display of my splendor. The least of you will become a thousand, the smallest a mighty nation. I am the Lord; in its time I will do this swiftly.””
Isaiah 60:21-22 NIV
God is the glory of those whose glorify God and He will be prove Himself so throughout all eternity. It is our glory that we have the Lord as our God, and we should glory in Him, who is true splendor and beauty. The presence of God with His people brings to fruition their covenant relationship. The first condition fulfilled is that all Zion’s people will be righteous. A second inheritance is that they will possess the land forever. The possession of the land is a deeper promise than simply a place of residence. It is a guarantee of eternal survival, provision, and protection. A third inheritance is that who they become will be the personal work of God. God planted His new covenant people into Christ and they have grown and become fruitful because of their relationship with Christ. God has nourished and nurtured them in Christ. He has pruned the useless things out of their life carefully and provide a weeded garden or church for them. This is hard for us to accept because God’s waiting room is sometimes the most difficult place in life. We’re in God’s waiting room when we’re in a hurry for something to happen but God isn’t. Maybe you’re in a hurry to graduate or get married or close a big deal. You’re watching the time get shorter and shorter, and you say, God, there isn’t a whole lot of time left. This either has to happen now or it’s not going to happen at all. But God isn’t subject to time. Because he created time, He operates outside of time. That’s why the Bible says that a thousand years can seem like a few hours to God. He uses time to test our faith and to build our character. While you’re working on your goal, God is working on you. And God’s much more interested in you than in what you’re trying to accomplish, because you’re not taking your accomplishments to heaven. You’re only taking your character. A lot of times we think we’re waiting on God for something to happen, like a prayer to be answered. God says, “You’re not waiting on me. I’m waiting on you. I’m preparing you. I’m testing your faith and trying to mature you, because the blessing I want to give you is so much bigger than you can handle right now. Will you trust me?” And this is a good word for us, centuries after God spoke this through Isaiah, in a world right now where we’re surrounded, today, by sin and all of its effects, in so many ways in our lives, in the world around us, that we see it, that we hate the effects of sin. I just think about specific things going on around me right now, that I see in my life, other people’s lives, and the world as I look at headlines, just to hate sin. I hate its effects. And God in His word says, “I am the Lord, and there’s coming a day when I will hasten it. I will hasten the end of this, so trust in me!!!”
Father thank You for this day and Your glory extends far beyond what we or anyone has ever seen. Lord pour out Your abundant blessings upon my friend and family today. Lord teach us to be cautious about assuming we know more than we do, so that with our limited knowledge we may be able to take delight in the greatness of Your creation and the glories of the world in which we are set. Lord may we show humility before the magnificence of creation and before You, who has made all things. Lord use my friend to be someone’s blessing today. Daddy we love You amen. Be a blessing. Love ya !
