1 Timothy 2:5-6

For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all people. This has now been witnessed to at the proper time. 1 Timothy 2:5-6

When two sides cannot come to an agreement face to face, it is time for the mediator to be brought in. The mediator will act as a bridge, perhaps as a go between for the two parties, or perhaps as a third-party perspective to find some means by which both sides can come to an agreement. The goal of the mediator is some sort of agreement, be it reconciliation, restoration, or restitution, leaving both parties satisfied with the result.

Thus Paul, having spoken of God's desire for all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth, describes the man Christ Jesus as the mediator between the one true God and mankind. In sending His Son, God the Father has shown us even more clearly that there is only one way of salvation and therefore only one God who is able to redeem creation. God pursued us and not the other way around.

We were comfortable in our sins; therefore, God pursued us who were dead in trespass and sin. God Himself pursued us by grace through His Son Jesus Christ, whom He appointed as our Mediator. God Himself, in the person of Jesus Christ, became fully human, for God alone was good enough to pay the awful price for sin. Unless a perfect man from Adam's fallen race could be found to become humanity's perfect sacrifice, mankind as a race would be cursed, condemned, damned, and eternally separated from God, forever.

From the foundation of the world, God had only one plan to reconcile fallen, sinful humankind and bring us back into his good graces. God's plan for doing this was simple. He said, “I'm going to send forth My Son as a deliverer and after He has died, risen, and stands before me, I will recognize only Him." Here in America, it's easy to think most people know about Jesus Christ, but there are men and women we see each day who have no knowledge of our Savior.

Don't assume that everyone in your life is familiar with the Good News of Jesus Christ. Whether it's a coworker, a new friend, or your long-time neighbor, you may be the only person they know who can tell them about the one true God and Savior. Praise God that there is one God and one Mediator between God and every man, woman, and child that has been born into this human race.

Praise God that we can receive salvation through Him by faith. Contrary to what you may have heard, believe or read in some other book, look no further, for there is no other way to God the Father but by Jesus Christ, His Son. And praise God that our Mediator can empathize with all of our weaknesses and lives to make intercession for us. And He is our Lord Jesus Christ!!!

Father, Thank You for this day and the breath of Your Holy Word. Lord, let Your abundant blessings be my friends and family's portion today. Lord, thank You for being our Redeemer and our Mediator. Lord, thank You that through Your death and Resurrection, the gulf between us has been forever removed for all who believe. Lord, thank You for making salvation so simple. Lord, we confess that sometimes we complicate Your amazing gift of salvation, which is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. Lord, we pray that many will come to a saving faith in You today. Lord, use my friends to be a conduit of Your love to all today.

Father, we love You. Amen.
