Psalms 64:9-10
“All men shall fear, And shall declare the work of God; For they shall wisely consider His doing. The righteous shall be glad in the Lord, and trust in Him. And all the upright in heart shall glory.”
Psalms 64:9-10 NKJV
It is difficult for our 21st century mindset to even associate the words fear and love with each other. But that is what C.S. Lewis was trying to capture in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe when Mr. Beaver was describing Aslan the king of Narnia and a lion to the human children who had never heard of or met him before:
“‘Safe?’ said Mr. Beaver . . . ‘Who said anything about safe? ‘Course he isn’t safe. But he’s good. He’s the King, I tell you.'” David was saying in this psalm that God is good and loving, and also that He is much different than us, the created, fallen beings of humanity.
When we worship our Creator, we are recognizing that He is not just better than us, but that He is “other” than us.
There will soon come a day when all people around the world will know that the Creator of Heaven and earth is Lord. They will bow to Him, fearing His great and unfathomable power.
The veil will be torn from disbelieving eyes, and the faithful and unfaithful alike will ponder all that He has done. The righteous who had, against all temptations of the world, continued to faithfully follow will rejoice upon His return. They will take refuge under His mighty wings of protection, and He will know them all by name.
The upright in heart will soon glory in His presence and He will make Himself known to all. The righteous shall be glad in the Lord not glad of the misery and ruin of their fellow man, but glad that God is glorified, and His Word fulfilled, and the cause of injured innocence pleaded effectually.
They rejoice not in men, nor in themselves, nor in any creature, or creature enjoyments, nor in their wisdom, strength, riches, or righteousness but in Christ, in whom all are justified and glory and in what He is to them, and has done for them.
Because of His righteousness they are clothed with, from whence they are denominated righteous ones and because of the salvation He has wrought out for us. No matter how hard the waves of life hit us we can always rejoice because God is our strong tower. We can always glorify Him!!!
Father thank You for this day and your Word that gives us the ability to live, move and have our being. Lord let Your abundant blessings flow from the storehouses of Heaven over my friend and family today. Lord thank You for giving us joy no matter how hard our situation is today. Lord thank You for being our shelter in the storms of life. Lord help us to remain in Your love and goodness today. Lord use my friend to be someone’s blessing today. Be a blessing.
Father we love You. Amen!
