Who to fear

Isaiah‬ ‭8‬:‭13

“The Lord Almighty is the one you are to regard as holy, he is the one you are to fear, he is the one you are to dread.” ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭8‬:‭13‬ ‭NIV‬‬

We know our God is greater than any man and greater than everything in this world and we can trust in Him. So, if we’re going to fear anything, then Scripture says fear God. Verse 13 was directed to a people who were tempted to be afraid of nations, of what men might do to them and God, through the prophet Isaiah says, You don’t need to be afraid of men. You don’t need to be afraid of what other nations can do to you. You need to be afraid, instead of God. Let Him be your fear. Let Him be your dread. Events will occur in this world, but that does not mean a believer should fear them. Theories will abound, some will be true, some will be false, but the believer as no reason to fear them, God is the One who is in control. When the believer is trusting in God and knows that He is in control, all he needs to be concerned about is pleasing God. Every believer is called to one thing to love God with all of his heart, soul, mind and body. When he loves God he will obey God. This is what pleases God. The things that man can do will no longer matter to the one who is trusting God. Man can only destroy the body, but not the soul. Man and the things he can do, do not need to be feared at all. You will hear about things that the world will be scared about. Sometimes they will be false theories that are driven to scare people into a certain way of thinking. Other times they may be true. Either way you do not need to fear what is said or happening. Put your trust in God and fear Him alone. Strive to love and obey God with all of your abilities. He is the one who gives you life for eternity, not just a temporary life. When we first become aware of the reality of God, we may change our behaviour out of fear. Fear of consequences, fear of judgment and fear may be the deterrent when faced with temptation. However, this is only the beginning of wisdom. As we grow in our Christian lives we become more Christ like and therefore more loving. We’re less motivated by fear and more motivated by love. We want to live a life pleasing to God, out of love and gratitude rather than fear. Also as we grow spiritually we have a greater understanding that Jesus has paid the price for our sin so that the wrath of God is no longer an issue for us. God is the only one we’re to regard as holy, the only one worthy of being feared. If we fear something or someone we’re giving them more power in our lives than God, hence they have become an idol to us. When we are tempted to fear, rather than allowing it to paralyse us, we can overcome it by focusing on how much God loves us, since, perfect love drives out fear. When we’re convinced of God’s perfect love we realize that there is no need to fear!!!

Father thank You for this day and the breath of life You heaven us in it. Lord pour out Your abundant blessings over my friend and family today. Lord there is no one like You. Lord there is no one we want to or should fear, but You. Lord help us we pray. Lord help us to have a healthy fear of You. Lord help us to fear doing anything that doesn’t honor You as Holy. Lord help us to fear doing anything that displeases You. Lord we want to honor You. Lord we want to please You, therefore we praise You for the promises You give us that we need not fear anything or anyone in this world, for You are with us. Lord use my friend to be the light of You in this dark decaying world today. Daddy we love You amen. Be a blessing. Love ya !!
