Watered by God

Isaiah‬ ‭55‬:‭10‬-‭11

“For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return there but water the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.” ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭55‬:‭10‬-‭11‬ ‭ESV‬‬

In a culture overloaded and overstimulated with so many forms of entertainment, it can be hard to turn off the noise and open our Bible. Sometimes, I’ll think I’ll just check social media real quick but before I know it, I’ve wasted twenty minutes. Then I’ll read my Bible for five minutes and call it a day because now I’m running late. Rain that falls on the fields is never wasted it never does nothing. It is always, imperceptibly at work, feeding, nurturing, cultivating, so that in the right time the harvest will spring up and be gathered in. These verses are a great picture of the effect of God’s Word, this comparison. Picture the rain and the snow coming down from heaven and not returning there but watering the earth and the fruit that it brings. It brings forth, sprouts seed to the sower, bread to the eater. The bread we put in our mouth is a result of the rain God brings from heaven. And then God says, This is the way My Word works. It goes out from my mouth, and it doesn’t come back to me empty. It accomplishes a fruitful purpose. And it succeeds in the thing for which I sent it. What language. “My Word has power to accomplish My purposes,” God says. “My Word will prove successful.” So we read that, and we must think, “I want to meditate on God’s Word day and night. I want to receive His Word from His mouth today. Like the ground receiving water and bearing fruit, may it be so in our lives. God does the same thing in our lives. He sends a Word or a sermon that showers us with His Word. In His timing, that Word springs to life, giving us life in Him. This is such a Word of encouragement that causes my faith to rise even more, knowing that God is faithful and He always keeps His promises. These two verses remind us that what he says He will do. His word is not ineffective. Sometimes it may feel that way in our lives, or as we introduce it into the lives of others. It’s tempting to say well, that didn’t work, let’s try something else. But the simple truth is that there is nothing besides God’s word. He formed creation by He sword, He rescued His people from Egypt by His Word, He promised His presence by His Word, and finally He sent His Word to become flesh and live among us, to fulfill HIs most important promises. We can try to find satisfaction in other things, but ultimately the only word that satisfies is the Word of God!!!

Father thank You for this day and thank You for Your faithfulness to us moment by moment. Lord open the floodgates of heaven and rain down Your abundant blessings over my friend and family. Lord thank You for Your promises that we can hold on to. Lord thank You that we don't have to fight to be in control but that we can trust You, knowing that in Your timing, You accomplish every one of Your desires for Your purpose in our lives. Lord thank You for Your beautiful Word. Lord we pray that today, we would connect to Your heart to either receive or share a Word for Your perfect will. Lord use my friend to a blessing someone needs today. Daddy we love You amen. Be a blessing. Love ya !
