WAIT PATIENTLY

Psalm 27:13-14

I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord. Psalm 27:13-14, NIV

As Joshua prepared to take the leadership of Israel and to replace Moses, God told him to be strong and courageous. He repeatedly told him to put his trust in God and not in himself, his armies, or the nations around him. Then he would win the victories over his enemies.

As we prepare for our daily battles with Satan and the things this life can throw at us, we are told to trust in God who will give us the strength to overcome. Paul said he could do all things through Jesus Christ who gave him strength, and we can live with this same confidence. We are told to live without anxiety or fear of tomorrow. As we learn to trust in God and live in His power, we will rid ourselves of many of the worries that plague us each day. Jesus said that each day has enough trouble of its own. So when we worry about things, we are just adding unnecessary stress to our lives that causes doubts and fear without doing anything positive for us.

As we face a new day, let each of us determine to give our cares to the Lord, and as we follow His will, we will have joy and peace. We will pray for wisdom to do what we can do, and then when we have done this, we will wait on the Lord for results. We will not fill our minds with what might happen or regrets of what might have been, but rather with that which is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, and admirable. And then the God of peace will be with us.

Not only does God call on us to wait, but to do so patiently. If we will take Him up on this practice, there will come a bravery that only comes from being clothed in His glorious presence. In and through each and every season of our lives, the Holy Spirit will give us courage to fulfill the good, pleasing and perfect will of God our Father. We are facing a very dark and evil time in our world today. There is an evil that is ravaging the entire world, bringing disease and death and financial adversity and fear. Yet, we are reminded that "in times of disaster, [we] will not wither; in days of famine [we] will enjoy plenty" (Ps. 37:19, NIV).

In such a time as this, we are also reminded to worship and rise, to prevail. Be brave and courageous, and never lose hope. Yes, keep on waiting for God will never disappoint us!!!

Father, thank You for this day and for waking us up and setting us on our journey. Lord, let Your abundant blessings Row mightily over us and our family today. Lord, as we are overwhelmed with the cares and worries of the world, help us look to You and turn them over to You. Lord, keep us from trying to carry the weight of the world on our own shoulders, because we know we are not able to bear it all. Lord, use us to bear the burdens of those around us when we have the opportunity to do so.

Father, we love You. Amen.
