Sought Out Spirit Filled Worship

“But a time is coming and is already here when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit [from the heart, the inner self] and in truth; for the Father seeks such people to be His worshipers. God is spirit [the Source of life, yet invisible to mankind], and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”” John‬ ‭4‬:‭23‬-‭24‬ ‭AMP‬‬

Just a reminder to us today that Jesus is a living water for our soul that will never ever run dry. So to seek Him over and above everything in this world. But then, we get later on in the conversation Jesus is having with this woman, and He starts talking about worship of God in spirit and truth for the Father is seeking such people to worship Him.

Just think about those two together. In John 1, we see Jesus full of grace and truth. Not just grace, not just truth, but grace and truth together. Here, worship is described by Jesus as being marked by spirit and truth because God is spirit and God is true.

So we want to make sure our worship of God, whether our everyday worship as we offer our bodies as living sacrifices before God, right, Romans 12:1, or our gathering with God’s people for worship is marked by both of these things by truth, by the truth about who God is anchored to the truth of God’s Word, and that we are led by the Spirit in our everyday lives and when we gather together for worship.

The Lord Jesus not only came to fulfil the Law of Moses and the prophecies that related to His first coming, but He came to demonstrate in Person, what God desires from all His worshippers.

Although the Lord Jesus Christ was fully God, He showed us how to live our lives as God intended every man to live; in spirit and in truth. He lived His life as a demonstration of how we should live our lives, in willing dependence upon the Father, in humble submission to the indwelling Holy Spirit, and walking day by day in spirit and in truth.

As Jesus spoke to a lost woman at a well in Samaria near the beginning of His earthly ministry, He looked past the shadow of the Cross to that glorious day when the Church would be born. In that day, true worshippers of the Father would worship Him in spirit and in truth, as guided by the indwelling Holy Spirit and in utter dependence upon Himself. And He would give to each believer His own resurrected life, our new-life in Christ as we abide in Him and He in us.

Worship is not merely an activity; it is a sacred encounter with the living God. As we engage in worship, we have the opportunity to connect with the very heart of our Creator, to express our love, adoration, and gratitude.

The psalmist invites us in Psalm 95:1-2 to come before the Lord with joy, shouting aloud to the Rock of our salvation. Worship is a joyful response to God's faithfulness and goodness in our lives. It is an opportunity to lift our voices in praise, thanking Him for His unfailing love and grace.

Jesus, in His conversation with the Samaritan woman, emphasized the importance of worshiping the Father in spirit and truth (John 4:23-24). True worship goes beyond external rituals or performance; it is a matter of the heart. When we worship in spirit and truth, we engage our whole being mind, emotions, and spirit and align ourselves with God's character and desires.

Psalm 100:4 reminds us to enter God's presence with thanksgiving and praise. Gratitude opens the door to a deeper experience of worship. It shifts our focus from our circumstances to the goodness of God, allowing us to see His hand at work in our lives. In worship, we declare His worthiness and magnify His name.

Today, seek to enhance your time in worship. Set aside moments to sing, pray, meditate on God's Word, and reflect on His goodness. Approach worship with a heart of gratitude, allowing it to overflow into every aspect of your life. Let your worship be an offering of love and surrender, as you draw near to God and find rest in His presence.

Worship is not limited to formal settings; it is a lifestyle. By cultivating an attitude of gratitude and engaging in heartfelt worship, we can experience a deeper connection with God and find rest in His presence.

Let us choose to imitate the Lord Jesus in how He lived so that we too may worship the Father in spirit and in truth to His praise and glory, as we submit to the work of the indwelling Holy Spirit and trust in Christ Jesus, our Strength and our Redeemer!!!

Father, we come before You today with a heart full of gratitude and a desire to worship You in spirit and truth. Help us to enter Your presence with thanksgiving and praise. May our worship be a genuine expression of love and surrender. Lord thank You for the beautiful example of Your life lived in total dependence upon Your Father and help us worship You in spirit and in truth. We pray that we may learn to depend on You fully and yield to the leading and guidance of your Holy Spirit in willing submission. Be a blessing. Love ya

Father, we love You. Amen
