Psalms 23:1-3
“The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake.” Psalms 23:1-3 NIV
Why does God lead us in paths of righteousness? For His name’s sake. He leads us for our good and ultimately for His glory. Oh, see this. Above all, God glorifies Himself by being a good shepherd to us. God glorifies His Name by guiding our lives.
We see from cover to cover in scripture, that God desires the good of His people for the glory of His Name, that God desires the good of all peoples for the glory of His Name. Think about where the Bible ends, where all of history is headed, toward all peoples gathering around the throne of God.
This changes everything about the way you understand the purpose of your life, I understand the purpose of my life. In other words, God has created us for our good. He wants to save us from our sins, He wants to shepherd us, lead us, guide us for our good.
Oh, receive that. Receive that good news in your life but then realize it doesn’t stop with you. He does this ultimately for His name’s sake, for the spread of His glory. Not just for the spread of His glory generally, but for His name’s sake among all the nations, among all the peoples. That changes the way we live today.
In the midst of life's demands, finding rest begins with intentionally reconnecting with God, acknowledging His sovereignty, and aligning ourselves with His plans and purposes.
In the midst of our fast-paced lives, it's easy to lose sight of our connection with God. The demands and distractions around us can leave us feeling disconnected and overwhelmed. However, finding true rest begins with reconnecting with our source, God Himself.
Take a moment to be still and acknowledge the presence of God. In the stillness, we can find peace and recognize that He is in control. The psalmist reminds us in Psalm 46:10, "Be still, and know that I am God." When we intentionally pause and turn our attention to God, we acknowledge His sovereignty and align ourselves with His plans and purposes.
God longs for a relationship with us, and He invites us to draw near to Him. James 4:8 encourages us to come close to God, to cleanse our hearts and minds, and to approach Him with sincerity and wholeheartedness. As we make the effort to reconnect with God, He reciprocates by drawing near to us.
When we find ourselves weary and burdened, Jesus extends a loving invitation to find rest in Him.
In Matthew 11:28-30, He assures us that if we come to Him, He will give us rest for our souls. As we surrender our worries, anxieties, and struggles to Him, we discover the ease and lightness that come from walking closely with Him.
Today, make it a priority to reconnect with your source God. Set aside time for prayer, meditation, and reading His Word. Seek His presence and allow Him to speak to your heart. Remember, it is in Him that we find true rest.
When we've reached that point where we don't think we can continue, our Shepherd blesses us with the strength so that we can keep on walking.
When we're in a struggle and things are tough, his power upholds us, so we run and not grow weary. When we're winning victories in his name, we can soar on wings like eagles because he supports and sustain. God the Son is our good Shepherd who loves us, sustains us, nourishes us, stills us, and restores us!!!
Father, we come before You today, recognizing that we need to reconnect with You. Thank You, Lord, that You are our Shepherd. You are all that we need, and we love You and praise Your name for Your wonderful words of comfort and Your promise that nothing can ever pluck us out of Your hand. Thank You that no matter what we do, You will restore us and lead us along life’s path, for the honor of Your name. Keep us, we pray, from wandering far from You and may all we do, from this day forward, be to Your honor and glory. Help us to be still and know that You are God. Draw us close to You as we seek Your presence. Grant us rest for our weary soul and teach me to walk in Your ways. Be a blessing to someone today. Love ya
Father, we love You. Amen
