TRUE WISDOM

Psalm 51:6

Behold, You desire truth in the inward parts, and in the hidden part You will make me to know wisdom.

Psalm 51:6, NKJV

Decisions, decisions, decisions. More and more our lives are filled with decisions. We're asked to make choices on just about everything. I am not afraid of decisions. They're a necessary part of life. But some decisions we make have both natural and spiritual consequences.

Did you know that every decision we make has a consequence? It does, and our decisions don't only affect just us but oftentimes affect others as well. True wisdom may bring material reward, but its value far exceeds earthly riches. To those who receive it, it opens a path to life and security and equips us for leadership and right conduct.

There are many benefits to true wisdom. True wisdom is priceless. True wisdom leads to life. True wisdom brings prosperity; true wisdom gives us security. God is the essence of truth, and this quality should be reflected in the character of His children. Falsehood is condemned in Scripture, but truth is praised and advocated.

God takes pleasure in truth and honesty, which are marks of an upright person. And truth originates from God. So true wisdom is the truth that is found in God. And fellowship and relationship with God are the starting points to receiving and understanding what is the truth.

What is it that God really looks for in our lives? First and foremost, it is not the external practices of religion, not necessarily churchgoing, or other religious acts. God looks much deeper than those. He looks right down into the innermost depths of our hearts and our lives. Elsewhere, the Bible tells us that God does not see as man sees, because man looks on the outward appearance, but God looks on the heart (1 Sam. 16:7).

If we come to that place, then we can say, like King David, “You teach me wisdom in the innermost place." There is a secret place in our innermost being where we can begin to hear the voice of God and learn from Him, and He teaches us wisdom there!!!

Father, thank You for this day and for waking us up and setting us on our journey through it. Lord, open the storehouses of heaven and pour out Your abundant blessings over us and our family today. Lord, thank You that You give us wisdom liberally. Lord, thank You that we can come to You in prayer and conversation to seek Your will and way for our lives. Lord, forgive us when we seek our own ways. Lord, guide and direct us in Your will, and help us stay on the path that You have given us to follow, and may You be glorified in everything we do today. Lord, use us to boldly proclaim Your gospel of grace to all today.

Father, we love You. Amen.
