THIRSTY?

John 7:37-38
On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, "Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them." John 7:37-38, NIV
Streams of living water for dying hopes, cool water for parched hearts, refreshing water for those tired and weary, of course, refers to much more than a liquid we can drink with our lips. This is the ultimate water of the soul that God longs to give to us, His children.
Let's spend today refreshing ourselves with the promises of Jesus and trusting that, as we draw close to Him, the Spirit will restore our souls. People have often tried to quench that inner void in their lives through various things, such as recreation, success, popularity, narcotics, and even religion. Jesus invites those who are thirsty to come to Him and drink.
By faith, we can receive Him as Savior and find the peace that He alone can provide. He then promises that He will place a spring of living water with those who truly belong to Him. This, of course, refers to the Holy Spirit who indwells in us as the children of God at the moment of our conversation.
The Holy Spirit from within provides the peace and fulfillment that we all need. This is the promise of God: rivers of living water flowing from within us. Jesus is able to satisfy the thirsty soul, but where are the thirsty souls?
Where are the souls that thirst for God, to know God in His fullness? Far too many are satisfied with their religion and no meaningful relationship with God. Even many who profess to be born again exhibit little desire for a closer walk with the Lord. It is safe to say that one reason we do not see more of a manifestation of God's grace and power working in our lives and churches is because of this lack of thirst or desire.
May God help us to maintain a thirst for Him and His glory in our lives and continue to trust Him for His grace and power to be manifest in and through us. This great promise is to him "that believes in me." To those who thirst for Him, and look to Him in utter dependence, He promises "rivers of living water." Drink with me from his bottomless well. You don't have to live with a dehydrated heart!!!
Father, thank You for this day and the living water of Your Word. Lord, pour out Your abundant blessings upon us and our family today. Lord, thank You for being the One who can quench our thirst. Lord, help us to draw from Your wisdom, strength, and Your presence within us. Lord, we come thirsty, and we come to drink and to receive. Lord, we receive Your work on the cross and in Your resurrection. Empowered by your Holy Spirit, we can do all things through Christ, who gives us strength. We receive Your Lordship. Lord, use us to bring others to the well of Your Word and drink from its abundance.
Father, we love You. Amen !
