Suffering Obedience

Hebrews‬ ‭5‬:‭7‬-‭10

“During the days of Jesus’ life on earth, he offered up prayers and petitions with fervent cries and tears to the one who could save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverent submission. Son though he was, he learned obedience from what he suffered and, once made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him and was designated by God to be high priest in the order of Melchizedek.”‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭5‬:‭7‬-‭10‬ ‭NIV‬‬

None of us can begin to comprehend what it cost the eternal Son of God in those days of His flesh. He was the Almighty, eternal Creator of the world, Who laid aside His heavenly glory to be made in the form of a man, so that He could lead a perfect life, die a substitutionary death, and demonstrate the way we should all live as God intended man to live, trusting Him entirely and living in active dependence upon Him. Jesus, being the incarnate Word, is the perfect example of how to live a holy life of active dependence on God. During His time on earth, He lived by faith. Obedience to God is what Jesus did. He practiced and lived perfect obedience to His Father. Anyone can obey when it is easy, but in the fire of adversity and pain, our obedience is put to the test. Are we willing to obey even when it hurts, even when it costs us dearly, even when we don’t want to, even when we are uncertain of the outcome? Obedience tests and discloses our motives, it reveals our true character and the love we have for the Savior. Obedience needs to be a constant reminder in our lives because, when things are going well we have the tendency to forget about God. We unwisely drop our prayer guard and are exposed to attacks from our adversary, Satan. The reality is that success in doing God’s will needs to be grounded and backed by constant prayer and reaching the lost requires lots of prayer. We need to ask ourselves how can we move forward to conqueror new horizons without obedience in prayer. And the answer is to obey Him, pray, ask for His guidance and look forward to the rewards He has in store for us. Being obedient is what makes us more like Jesus, and when we do, He assures us, loves us, empowers us and stands by us. It is so important to God, that He makes it a priority to bless our obedience. Obedience changes us from being self centered to being God centered and in doing so we become selfless. We go from being prideful and controlling to trusting in God, from being disobedient to being obedient. Just like Jesus, we need to spend time with the Father receiving instructions from the Spirit of God for what He wants us to do, as we obey and trust in Him. On that astonishing and holy day, Christ Jesus became our heavenly high Priest, after the order of Melchizedek and today there is a Man in heaven, seated on the throne of Almighty God, acting as our Mediator and interceding day and night, for all who are His!!!

Father thank You for this day and the the beauty of Your life sustaining Word. Lord let Your abundant blessings pour out over my friend and family today. Lord there are no words to express our grateful thanks, as with astonished awe and wonder we consider You, our heavenly high Priest, Who in the days of His flesh offered up prayers and supplication with loud crying and tears as He faced the Cross and was made sin on our account. Lord help us to walk in obedience to Your will and Your way this day. Lord use my friend to be a blessing someone is in need of today. Daddy we love you amen. Be a blessing. Love ya !!
