LIVE ONE DAY AT A TIME

Psalm 90:1

So teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.

Psalm 90:12, NKJV

Too often we think in terms of years and make plans for the far distant future, and yet we are instructed to live one day at a time and not to even worry ourselves about the needs of tomorrow, for each day has sufficient trouble of its own.

We should not only reflect on the brevity of our time here on earth and recognize that our times are in God's hands and that He has scheduled every day of our life to bring glory to Himself, but also that we should make the best use of our time, during our brief sojourn on earth, by redeeming the time and making the most of every opportunity we have on earth.

This world is not our home for we have a heavenly citizenship and a glorious inheritance secured for us in heaven. But every day of our lives is an opportunity that God has graciously given us to use wisely and diligently for His glory, for the victorious life that has been lived wisely, and well is the one who has honored the Lord in thought, word, and deed.

May God teach each one of us to number our days carefully, so we may develop wisdom in our hearts by faith in Christ Jesus, our Savior. May we all count our days, and then consider with godly wisdom how we invest our time here. One day this will all be gone, and only that which is of eternal value will last. I pray that our lives will be invested in the eternal, and not in that which perishes like the grass. We are not given another year simply to take up space.

Wherever we may find ourselves as we end this year and start a new one, God wants to use each one of us. Let us never forget how Nehemiah teaches us that it is never too late for a new beginning!!!

Father, thank You for this day and each day of our lives and for the opportunities that You have given us to live a life, as unto You. Lord, let Your abundant blessings be our family's portion today. Lord, may each day of our lives, from this day forward, be exercised in a way that is pleasing to You, so that in all we say and do You may be glorified. Lord, teach us to make the most of the time we have; teach us to effectively utilize the life we have been given. Lord, may we accomplish all of the purposes that You have set out for us. Lord, teach us to number each and every one of our days. Lord, use us to be a bold witness of Your glory to all today.

Father, we love You. Amen.
