Psalms 138 1,3,7,8
“I will praise you, Lord, with all my heart; before the “gods” I will sing your praise. When I called, you answered me; you greatly emboldened me. Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you preserve my life. You stretch out your hand against the anger of my foes; with your right hand you save me. The Lord will vindicate me; your love, Lord, endures forever— do not abandon the works of your hands.”
Psalms 138 1,3,7,8 NIV
This psalm of David radiates with praise and thanks. A reminder to thank God for His love and faithfulness. A prompt to praise God for His loving kindness, His words of hope, and His fulfillment of promises. Reaffirming that when we call out and pray for help, God will give us strength and encouragement.
A call to worship and praise God, our strength, redeemer, and hope. Sometimes it is hard to give thanks in the middle of a hard situation. Frustration can often take over and we find ourselves feeling too grim to express any feelings of thanks towards God. Our human emotions are a powerful tool and when met with anything that is outside of God’s Word, that is when our minds start to wander down a path that leads us away from God.
Praising God means truly loving and thanking Him for His faithfulness despite what is going on around us. It is when we face trying times that our faith is tested and we are faced with either choosing to rely on His promises or give into our anxiety. One practical way that we can keep ourselves from giving into worry is by reminding ourselves of all the time God has worked to prove His faithfulness and that your current situation is no different.
David was often faced with enemies and dangerous situations. Yet, He trusted in God’s hand of deliverance because He knew that God was the only one who could bring Him ultimate peace and rest during those hard times. Verse 8 has a promise that still applies to us today. God will fulfill His promises to remain faithful and His love for us never changes.
No matter what you are facing today, look to the one who has proven He is powerful, loving and faithful and trust that He is able to work all things out for your good. The encouragement I have for you today is that God truly cares. In fact, He’s waiting to hear from you right now.
So, where are you struggling today? Surely there’s a place in your life that would benefit from an injection of Holy strength and courage. Let’s bring that struggle to the Lord and ask Him to show up in our lives today. Any time you feel overwhelmed by that big struggle in your life, get quiet and ask God to give you the strength and courage to get to the other side of it.
We can be assured that God is always near, and He longs for us to run to Him for anything and everything!!!
Father, thank You for this day and we are in awe of your mercy and grace to us. Lord let Your abundant blessings flow from the storehouses of heaven upon my friend and family today. Lord, we thank You for Your loving-kindness and patience toward us. We ask that You give each of us boldness to come before You in all honesty and truth. We praise Your Holy name for Your forgiveness of our sins and Your unconditional love for us. Lord, as Your Word sustains us, let us with joy, praise, and thanksgiving celebrate the hope and strength You give us. Lord use us to be the light today. Be a blessing.
Father, we love You. Amen. !
