PATH-DRIVEN

Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths. Proverbs 3:5-6, NKJV

At the beginning of each new year, it is common for many people to make resolutions. This passage can be broken up into three resolutions with a single result. First, "trust in the Lord with all your heart." Trust Him, not your family, your bank account, your job, or any other thing. Trust God with all that we are, and all that we have.

Yes, trust can be hard. It involves turning everything over to Him. But it is what we are called to do. Second, "lean not on your own understanding." This may be the hardest thing for us. While we acknowledge that our understanding is flawed, whether of the Bible, God, humanity, creation, etc., we still have a tendency to make it a foundation stone. We "lean" on it for support. It impacts all we do. Instead, we need to lean on the truth of God's Word and the guidance of His Spirit, and lastly, "in all your ways acknowledge Him." How might we go about submitting to the Lord?

A good start is to obey the instructions in His Word. Know the Bible and do what it says. Submission is hard, especially in a culture that values individuality. But it is essential in being a faithful Christ-follower. And if we will do those three things, we can count on Him to "make our paths straight." He will direct us and help us to be successful. Not measured as human success, but success in His kingdom.

Let's trust in the Lord, not depend on our own understanding of things, and submit to Him in everything. Together these three things will make up a winning formula for us!!!

Father, thank You for this  day and the strength to walk in it. Lord, open the windows of heaven and shine down Your abundant blessings upon us and our family today. Lord, every good thing we have in our lives has come because of You. The families we have been blessed with, the protection we have received, the values that we hold, the successes we have enjoyed, the hope we have, the salvation we have received, and the future we anticipate are all ours because of Your grace and not our goodness. Lord, please bless us with wisdom and insight as we seek to live for You in today's confusing and immoral world. Lord, use us to be a witness of Your saving grace to those in need of it today.

Father, we love You. Amen.
