One God, One Lord

1 Corinthians‬ ‭8‬:‭5‬-‭6

“For even if there are so-called gods, whether in heaven or on earth (as indeed there are many “gods” and many “Lords”), yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live; and there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live.” 1 Corinthians‬ ‭8‬:‭5‬-‭6‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Paul writes, there is indeed one God. He is the Father. All things come from Him and we exist for Him. Also, there is only one Lord. He is Jesus Christ. All things exist through Him, including us. Paul's declaration of the one God and Lord as Father and Christ is masterful and clarifying. Together, both Father and Son exist as one in the Trinity with the Holy Spirit. They are distinct in their roles and functions and yet, mysteriously, still one. Paul's main emphasis, though, is that Christians are from God, exist through our Lord, and exist for God. It is that very fact that there is only one true God to whom we are obligated that we should fully separate ourselves from even the most mundane contact with any idols or gods. Too often we forget that we exist for His glory and not our own.  Be reminded today and always you are who you are and you do what you do to glorify Him and Him alone. In a world with billions of people, there are also billions of different views on life. People have different views on how life came into existence upon this earth and they have different views as to their purpose upon this earth. These views range from believing in some god, to believing only in nature. Many will even believe in multiple ways of each. Paul says that for believers there is only one God and one Lord. Both had made all things and believers live through both. The world does not have a set standard that everyone completely believes in or follows. There are many different theories as to how life began on the earth. Some are similar to others, while some are standing alone. With all the different views, there is confusion and a lostness felt. Many in the world often live in confusion as to how they are supposed to live their lives. All they see is many different gods and many different ways to live. There is no one set standard. They do not know or understand their purpose in their lives. Every believer believes in that there is only one God. It is God the Father who created everything with His Son Jesus Christ at His side. Believing in only one God, gives meaning and purpose to life and removes confusion. It removes the confusion, because there is only one standard to live by. Jesus came and showed people the way to live their lives and to please God. This guidance is now found in the Bible and is guided by the Holy Spirit. You may be wondering at times what your purpose is in life. Jesus came to give you life and a purpose. That purpose is to love God and to love others. You are to be His witness everywhere you go, bringing more people to Him.

As you live in and through Jesus with God’s Holy Spirit guiding you, you will know how to live life in abundance and with purpose. You will not need to live in the confusion that the majority of the world is in. And your purpose and life will last for eternity, not just a few years!!!

Father thank You for this day and for words of wisdom and love found in Your Word that will guide us. Lord open the storehouses of Your abundant blessings and let them flow over my friend and family today. Lord help us to act in love in what we do and not act merely in knowledge alone. Lord we thank you for the knowledge and the truth that sets us free, but also for the love that still restrains us and makes us give consideration to someone else's welfare, not just our own. Lord may we reflect that love to others today just as You did. Daddy we love you amen. Be a blessing. Love ya !!
