Morning by morning

Writer: Eddie Cox Eddie Cox

Isaiah‬ ‭50‬:‭4

“The Sovereign Lord has given me a well-instructed tongue, to know the word that sustains the weary. He wakens me morning by morning, wakens my ear to listen like one being instructed.”

‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭50‬:‭4‬ ‭NIV‬‬

God is speaking in the depths of our being. Be still, so that we can hear God’s voice. God speaks in the language of Love, HIS Words fill us with Life and Peace, Joy and hope. God desires to talk with all of His children, but many are too busy to listen. Their work ethic has them tied up in knots. They submit wholeheartedly to this taskmaster, wondering why they feel so distant from God. Living close to God requires making The Lord your first love, your highest priority. As you seek God’s Presence above all else, you experience peace and joy in full measure. The Lord also is blessed when you make Him first in your life. While you journey through life in God’s Presence, His Glory brightens the world around you. The picture of the servant is that he is skilled in God’s word. The servant declares that he has a trained tongue and trained ear. The servant possesses the words of wisdom because he is taught and instructed by the Lord. His words reflect the message of the Lord. This means that when the servant speaks that his words will help the weary. The words of this servant will comfort and sustain those who are broken and tired by sin. Further, the servant is pictured as the ideal disciple for he listens to the Lord. Every morning he is listening to God. This is a beautiful picture of what a disciple of the Lord is to do. Support for God’s weary people comes by his words. Therefore we must listen to the words of God every day. This is important because the verse specifically tells us about the preparation of and the purpose of the Lord's servant. We learn that He has trained and prepared for His mission. The servant has been taught and speaks out of this instruction. He continues to receive instruction from God, and does so humbly as a student relates to a teacher. Notice also that this takes place morning by morning, a daily affair. This speaks of a constant communion and communication between this ideal Servant and God, who share an intentional intimate and close relationship. This also reminds us that God's revelation did not come in magical, supernatural bursts, but that this ideal servant also learned and communed with God in the same way that we are to, receiving His Word through the means He has revealed. This instruction of God to this servant was so that He may know how to sustain with a word him who is weary. Here is a lesson all of us can learn. To live the life Christ has called us to, we need to begin the day with prayer. If we want to serve God, then we too need to make an appointment with him morning by morning!!!

Father thank You for this day for being gracious in Your plans, it was Your will, nothing less than what pleased You, to redeem our lives. Lord pour out Your abundant blessings over my friend and family today. Lord You did this on purpose, it was not random or accidental. We don't want to neglect Your purposes. We confess that we have been woefully distracted, selfish, and lazy at times. Lord give us the strength we need, and the encouragement, to take the next step by faith. Lord, please give us the tongue of disciples, that I may know how to sustain the weary one with a word. Continue to awaken me morning by morning, and awaken my ear to listen as a disciple. Lord let my friend and I be prepared for use, according to Your will and purposes today. Daddy we love You amen. Be a blessing. Love ya !!
