1 Thessalonians 5:23-24
Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming our Lord Jesus Christ. He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it.
1 Thessalonians 5:23-24, NKJV
Full maturity and the complete sanctification of each and every believer's spirit, soul, and body are these scriptures' carnest desires for all Christians. Some incorrectly consider that we can reach sinless perfection in this life, but this is unbiblical, for our old sin nature, which resides within our mortal bodies, lusts against our new life in Christ, and this will continue until we discard this fallen, earthy, mortal frame and are taken to be with the Lord forever.
We are set apart for the Lord, or positionally sanctified, the moment that we place our faith in the Lord Jesus. But for the rest of our lives, we are being progressively sanctified as we mature in the faith and grow in grace while submitting to the ongoing work of the Holy Spirit within our lives.
Scripture tells us that our complete and final sanctification will only be attained when we take up our eternal position in heaven, when through death or the rapture we will reach full and perfect sanctification, when the God of peace Himself Conversations with God sanctifies us entirely and our whole spirit and soul and body will be preserved complete and without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
What a glorious promise. May today we walk worthy of our calling and look to Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our salvation, in spirit, soul, and body!!!
Father, thank You for this day and Your amazing mercy and grace. Lord, let Your abundant blessings be our family's portion today. Lord, give us Your mind so that our body may be a temple of the spirit of holiness that is Yours. Lord, may Yourself make us holy through and through. Lord, may our spirit, soul, and body be kept blameless by your power. Lord, we trust You to do this because You are the one who has called us, and You are faithful. Lord, we ask for growth in Your amazing grace today. Lord, use us to be the light of Your love to those who You bring Your way today.
Father, we love You. Amen.
