2 Corinthians 5:17-19
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation.”
2 Corinthians 5:17-19 NIV
Before we gave our lives to Jesus Christ, we were far away from His loving grace. But now in Christ Jesus, we are a new creation. We are no longer condemned, for we have been set free by the blood of the Lamb.
No longer do we have to worry about our past, because Jesus died for our past, our present, and our future. Our old nature is gone. It has lost its power over us. Our old nature has been transformed into a new creation.
We can now cry out, “Death, where is your victory? Oh Death, where is your sting?” Even before the creation of the world, God had already prepared His redemptive plan for us. He showed His love for us, in that while we were yet sinners, Jesus died for us. We are a new creation. We have been set free.
Through Jesus Christ, we are victorious. We have been crucified with Christ. Therefore, we no longer live, for Jesus Christ now lives in us. Jesus has anointed us and set His seal of ownership on us. He has put His Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing our future with Him in Heaven.
We are sons and daughters of God through our faith in Jesus Christ, being baptized in Him. That is why Jesus told the crowd to help Lazarus take off the grave clothes. Jesus wanted Lazarus to fully experience his new life in Him. We have to do the same thing when we hear the call of Jesus.
He made us a new creation. We became alive in Him, but, we have to take away our old nature our grave clothes, and clothe ourselves in Jesus Christ to experience the joy of our new life in Him. When we clothe ourselves in Jesus Christ, we will be able to cry out, Oh Death, where is your sting?
All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation, that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men’s sins against them. And He has committed to us the message of reconciliation.
Reconciliation requires a price and requires wisdom to do. When we meet people who do not believe in God, are we anxious and are we willing to think really hard, so that that person can receive God’s grace? Paul says this ministry has been given to us.
In other words, whether or not we are ready or willing, you and I need to bear the responsibility to preach the gospel, to make reconcile men to God. We are to live in sweet communion with the lovely Lord Jesus and only do those things that we hear from Him.
Let us always remember that in Christ we are not the old model, repaired or mended. It is not the old life that God reconditions or restores. We are not simply set right, but made an entirely new person, we are born into a new creation, we are identified with Christ.
Let us accept this truth in righteousness and true holiness by faith, and in everything we do, let us do all to His praise and glory, from this day forward even forevermore!!!
