Ephesians 2:4-5
“But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved.”
Ephesians 2:4-5 NIV
This is what happened to the Christian. He or she was dead and now he or she is alive. It’s not that either one was bad and now they are better, or not that they are okay and now improved. No, they were dead before without spiritual life and now are alive with Christ, raised up with him, seated with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.
I doubt that we will ever fathom the depths of God's love for us, for His love is infinite and we are finite. But nonetheless, the love of God is rich in mercy towards us who were born dead in trespasses and sins. The love of God is one of His many intrinsic attributes for, in and of Himself, God is love, but when this inherent characteristic of God's love is demonstrated towards humanity, it exhibits itself in mercy and grace, kindness and compassion.
It is because of the immeasurable length, eternal breadth, and abundant depth of God's love, that he demonstrated His love towards us by means of His grace and mercy, when He sent His only begotten Son to die for us so that we might live.
We have no claim to bring to God that he should love us, accept us, or call us His children. We have no right to demand salvation because we earned our righteousness. We have no power within us that can secure life for us beyond the expiration of our mortal bodies.
Only God's love can bring us salvation and life. Only because of God's mercy extended to us in Jesus can our sins be forgiven. Only God's loving grace can bring us salvation and genuine hope. Only God's gift of Christ can awaken us from the death slumber of sin and death. Praise God for His great love for us and His desire to be rich in mercy to us. Because of God, we are made alive and ensured of life in glory. Left breathless at God's love, there is nothing more to say than, Hallelujah and thank you.
God is rich in mercy, great in forgiveness, and amazing in grace. He loves us with unconditional, unending love. We have sinned, ignored God, and rejected His word. However, with merciful love, God has forgiven our sins and brought us salvation through His son Jesus, who died for our sins. By the grace of God, we are saved! Glory be to God.
Let's take a moment today to revel in God's love and care for each of us. His careful planning and sacrifice is beyond all measure and full understanding in our human minds. But we can allow that wonder and awe to spur us on to become all that God wants us to be!!!
Father, thank You for this day and that You are a God of love Who is rich in mercy toward us. Lord, open the storehouses of Your abundant blessings and let them rain upon my friend and family today. Lord, thank You that You loved us so much, You came to die in our place and pay the price for our sins. Lord, help us to reach to You for guidance and lean on You for strength and support. Use us to proclaim Your mercy and grace today to all.
Father, we love You. Amen.!
