Isaiah 63:7-8
“I will tell of the kindnesses of the Lord, the deeds for which he is to be praised, according to all the Lord has done for us— yes, the many good things he has done for Israel, according to his compassion and many kindnesses. He said, “Surely they are my people, children who will be true to me”; and so he became their Savior.”
Isaiah 63:7-8 NIV
It is good to pause in our lives and just recount the steadfast love of the Lord. The praises of the Lord according to all the Lord has granted us. We should regularly bring to mind God’s faithfulness and His love toward us. People love to talk about many different things. Some will talk about the latest sports games, others talk about politics or whatever is going on in the news. Some will talk about the newest movies or trends occurring. Parents often talk about their children or grandchildren. And the list is endless. Regardless of what people talk about, it is always about something of interest. It is always the interest of the person talking, and sometimes in the interest of the person listening. Isaiah says one of the things he will talk about is God’s kindness and good deeds. He is recognizing and telling people of all the good things God has done for Israel, so that He may be praised. Every believer has something that they can talk about, no matter what is going on in life. That one thing is God’s great kindness. No one had to be saved. Every person deserved punishment and death because of sin. Yet, God in His great love chose to provide for forgiveness of sins and salvation. Along with salvation, God has also done many things for every person. His provision of breath, life, food, clothing, and shelter are just a few of the basics. God has also provided healing, joy, peace, comfort, understanding, wisdom, direction and more. I want to encourage you to do that right now. Just in your own heart, to pause for a minute here in your day, and just recount all the ways God has shown His steadfast love to you. Let’s just think about all the ways God has shown His love to us. And then, once you’ve just recounted His love, His steadfast love towards you, His goodness towards you. Then just look up in His face. So not just at His hands, all the gifts He’s given you. But look up toward Him, and let’s just express love for Him as it’s expressed in these verses. Not even just love for the gifts, and the good things He’s given us, the ways He’s shown us His love. Let’s just praise the Lord, let’s just praise the Lord, let’s lift our towards heaven and praise the Lord, because He is love!!!
