JOYFUL NOISE

Psalm 100:1-3

Make a joyful shout to the Lord, all you lands! Serve the Lord with gladness; come before His presence with singing. Know that the Lord, He is God; it is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; we are His people and the sheep of His pasture.

Psalm 100:1-3, NKJV

Right out the gate the psalmist calls for a joyful noise to be made unto God. The psalmists call is not merely to a small tribe or group of people but rather has the earth in view!  No one is excluded. Not only is there a global call, but the psalmist qualifies this call by using the word "joyful." The sort of noise we make matters... it's not one of sadness, but one of joy. The word used here refers to a glad shout made in the presence of a king.

The whole earth has a singular almighty King who's not only worthy but also good to His people. He's no tyrant, but rather a joyful Ruler who invites us into His joy. Here the earth is called to serve the Lord with gladness. Again, the way we do something matters. God is not after heartless obedience but rather after hearts and lives that delight in Him.

The Lord has no regard for outward forms of worship if there be no inward adoration or if no devout affection be employed therein. Not only are we to serve Him but also sing to Him. Our glad service plays into our singing, and our singing plays into our glad service. No part of life is divorced from this worship of God! He is worthy.

In response to God and who we are in Him, how could we not make a joyful noise? How could we not serve Him with gladness or come into His presence with singing? Remember, no other recipe is acceptable for true praise and worship to the Father than what He has written in His Word. Let us shout GLORY!!!!

Father, thank You for this day and for the song of joy in our hearts. Lord, let Your abundant blessings flow mightily over us and our family today. Lord, we are truly thankful that You are God. Lord, thank You for being our Shepherd, our Father, and our Savior. Lord, empower us as we seek to display Your character and kindness to those around us. Lord, help us rejoice in You no matter what we face in life. Lord, use us to shine forth a life of grateful praise so others will see You and praise You today.

Father, we love You. Amen !
