Mark 3:11-12
“Whenever the impure spirits saw him, they fell down before him and cried out, “You are the Son of God.” But he gave them strict orders not to tell others about him.”
Mark 3:11-12 NIV
Have you ever noticed all the people around Jesus were struggling with who He was. The Scribes and Pharisees accused Jesus of blasphemy. The Jews were looking for a military leader/King that would remove the Roman empire from over them. They were not looking for someone that came from a poor family.
At this point in Jesus’ ministry, even the disciples were not yet really sure who Jesus was, other than a great teacher who had the ability to do miracles. It was the demons who fell down before Him and cried out, “You are the Son of God.” They knew who He was. They had been in heaven as angels before they were cast out along with Satan. Yet, even with the demons proclaiming Jesus as the Son of God, the people still didn’t get it.
Is today much different? People still argue over who Jesus is. The world still rejects Him. It won’t always be so. Paul wrote to the church at Phillipi and said, “at the name of Jesus every knee will bow— of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth.
What these scriptures convey is that mere intellectual belief or assent, is not the same as saving faith. Merely believing facts about God is not the same as really trusting Him personally, and committing one’s life to Him. Having that intentional intimacy with Him.
Times have not changed anything. Talk about Jesus happens all the time, especially around Easter and Christmas. People talk about who He really was. Most accept that He really did exist, but few accept that He is the Son of God. Many do not like to think about the spiritual realm of life.
While people refuse to acknowledge Jesus as the Son of God, there are demons who fall down before Him acknowledging who He is. The demonic world knows who Jesus is and the power and authority that He has. There is no doubt in their minds.
You, as a believer, must decide who you see Jesus as. Was He just a good prophet? Or just a good teacher? Was He just a man? Or is He someone more? When you realize who Jesus is the Son of God, you will be like the demons in that you will fall down before Him. You will give Him full authority over your life. You will honor Him for who He really is.
Jesus is either just an ordinary man. Or He is the Son of God. Jesus is either your Savior. Or He will be your judge.Jesus is more than a miracle worker and is never a title seeker. Instead, Jesus ministers to show God's love and compassion, yet does not want His ministry of preaching the gospel of the Kingdom thwarted, even by those who know who He is.
So often today, as Christian insiders, we know Jesus by His titles. In times of distress, we want Him to be our miracle worker. Jesus, however, is Lord and Master. We come to Him and receive grace, mercy, salvation, comfort, life, and Spirit. Yet Jesus is still Lord. He is not our servant boy, and He is much more than any title. He defines who is by what He does, He defines what it means to be Son of God and the Christ the Messiah by going to the cross. In the process, He also sets us an example for how we should live, we should live a life of sacrificial service to bring others to God. So if Jesus is to be more than a title for us, then his life must be seen in us!!!
Father thank You for this Day and for the amazing grace we have in Jesus. Lord let Your abundant blessings flow over my friend and family today. Lord we know You are the Son of God, our Savior. Lord we pray without ceasing that You will walk with us and reminding us always You are here. Lord we know the battle are real and we must stay alert and be ready for anything. Lord use my friend to be a the touch of Your love to all today. Daddy we love you amen. Be a blessing. Love ya !
So it takes more than just belief. We can recognize the need of our fellow man by doing as Jesus did in speaking about his father then we will show we truly believe he is who God said he is…. His son
