Jeremiah 33:2-3
“This is God’s Message, the God who made earth, made it livable and lasting, known everywhere as God: ‘Call to me and I will answer you. I’ll tell you marvelous and wondrous things that you could never figure out on your own.’”
Jeremiah 33:2-3 MSG
This is God speaking us in the book of Jeremiah saying call to me. This is an invitation from God. Call out to Me and I will answer you. Just imagine being Jeremiah, hearing this invitation from God. Call to Me Jeremiah and I will speak to you. I, the God of the universe, will speak to you, and I’m going to tell you great things that you’ve not known. I’m going to tell you hidden things that you would not know any other way apart from calling to me and me answering you, what an invitation.
As so, as often happens in Scripture, Jeremiah's prophetic disclosure was accompanied by an important time of prayer, petition, and pleading for his people. This lamenting man remembered God's mighty deeds of old. He recalled Israel's escape from Egypt, their entry into the land flowing with milk and honey, their victory over many foes, and God's grace and mercy towards them, despite their apostate ways, abominable sin, and outrageous idolatry.
"Call to Me and I will answer you," were God's words of encouragement to this weary warrior: "Call to Me and I will tell you great and mighty things things which you do not know. Call to Me."
Right in the middle of his prayer, the Lord told his servant that following the destruction of Jerusalem and dispersion of His people, due to their sin, there was hope because He purposed in His heart to gather His scattered nation and bless them mightily. He told Jeremiah of great and mighty things He would do for His people if they would simply call on Him.
It all begs the question are you and I taking advantage of this invitation? Are you and I responding to this invitation? This is an invitation for you and me today. This is why we get up out of bed in the morning, maybe even before we get out of bed, but as soon as we get out of bed, as soon as possible in our day, we come before the Lord and we call out to Him.
Why would we go on through our day and spend so much time day after day after day, just doing stuff in this world when we’ve been invited in the middle of it all to call out to the God over this world and to hear and receive, to be answered with great and hidden things that we have not known.
Like a scared child might call out to a loving father in the next room for help, we too can call on our heavenly Father, knowing that our Father will answer, protect, and comfort us. Even more, our Father will reveal things impossible for us without his grace!!!
Father thank You for this day and that You are a good and faithful God Whose Word stands fast forever and ever. Lord open the floodgates of heaven and pour out Your abundant blessings over my friend and family today. Lord thank You that all Your promises to both Israel and the Church remain 'yes' and 'amen' in Christ Jesus my Lord. Lord thank You that You are a listening God Who hears the calls and cries of Your people. Lord use my friend to be salt and light to all today. Be a blessing.
Father, we love You. Amen
