Heart Wisdom

Psalms‬ ‭51‬:‭6

“You desire truth in the inward being; therefore teach me wisdom in my secret heart.“

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭51‬:‭6‬ ‭NRSV‬‬

David here acknowledged God wants to be in a relationship with each person. He said, “Behold You desire truth in the innermost being.” In this verse he meant God desires we know His truth so we can correctly know Him to the depths of our soul, the part of us that communes directly with Him. When we correctly know God, then we will desire to be faithful and always commune with Him, to be in His presence. We will not want to rebel and choose a way contrary to His.

Besides this, David said God would make him know wisdom when he repented and lived in relationship with Him. God would enable David to understand how to use the truth God gave Him to act and speak in the world.

By opening his secret hidden place, his innermost being to God, David stated God would purify and empower him by the Holy Spirit to know His will and think, speak, an enact it in the world. His faith in God would be visible.

Decisions, decisions, decisions. More and more our lives are filled with decisions. We're asked to make choices on just about everything. I am not afraid of decisions. They are a necessary part of life. But some decisions we make have both a natural and spiritual consequence. Every decision we make has a consequence.

Our decisions don't only affect just us, but often times affect others as well. True wisdom may bring material reward but its value far exceeds earthly riches. To those who receive it, it opens a path to life and security and equips us for leadership and right conduct.

There are many benefits to true wisdom. True wisdom is priceless. True wisdom leads to life. True wisdom brings prosperity and true wisdom gives us security. God is the essence of truth and this quality should be reflected in the character of His children.

Falsehood is condemned in Scripture, but Truth is alive and its advocate. God takes pleasure in truth and honesty, which are marks of an upright person. And truth originates from God. So true wisdom is the truth that is found in God. And fellowship and relationship with God is the starting point to receiving and understanding what is the truth.

What is it that God really looks for in our lives? First and foremost, it is not the external practices of religion, not necessarily churchgoing or other religious acts. God looks much deeper than those. He looks right down into the innermost depths of our hearts and our lives.

Elsewhere, the Bible tells us that God does not see as man sees because man looks on the outward appearance. God looks on the heart. If we come to that place, then we can say, like King David, "You teach me wisdom in the inmost place."

There is a secret place in our innermost being where we can begin to hear the voice of God and learn from Him and He teaches us wisdom there!!!

Father, thank You for this day and for waking us up and setting us on our journey through it. Lord, open the storehouses of heaven and pour out Your abundant blessings over my friend and family today. Lord, thank You that You give us wisdom liberally. Thank You that we can come to You in prayer and conversation to seek Your will and way for our lives. Lord, forgive us, when we seek our own ways. Guide and direct us in Your will and help us stay on the path that You have given us to follow. May You be glorified in everything we do today. Lord, use us to boldly proclaim Your gospel of grace to all we meet today.

Father, we love You.  Amen.

Be a blessing. !
