2 Corinthians 5:5
“Now the one who has fashioned us for this very purpose is God, who has given us the Spirit as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.”

It is God who is working in the lives of his people. In fact, He is not just working, He is achieving his purpose. Through all the troubles of their lives, He is bringing them into a perfect and wonderful relationship with Himself. What God has begun, He is able to complete. Although their bodies may die, His people will have life without end. Although there may be no place for them in this world, they will have a place of great honour in the heaven. God will declare them to be His children, and they will live with Him always. God’s people do not have all these things yet. However, God has given them a guarantee, or proof, of these things. That guarantee is the Holy Spirit, who lives in them. So much of Paul's words to the Church is reminding us of our eternal inheritance and our heavenly citizenship. Although we have no tangible evidence of our future hope, nevertheless we accept it by faith because God has spoken in His Word, and God is faithful to His Word for God has even set His Word above His Holy Name. Paul says here that God has been preparing Christians for this transformation all along. It is the joyful fate of every believer. We may have no tangible proof of our home in heaven, but faith is the evidence of unseen and invisible things, and we are to govern our lives by truths that have eternal and lasting value and not to set our hearts on the passing things of this temporal world. And as a guarantee from God, all who trust in Christ Jesus as Saviour are given the indwelling Holy Spirit as a pledge. He is a guarantee from God that we will one day set aside this earthly flesh and be dressed in the heavenly glory that comes from God. Because the Holy Spirit lives in God’s people, they already recognize Him as their Father. So, by the power of the Spirit, even now they are aware of their true relationship with God. What a precious promise that our guarantee is the Holy Spirit. What a blessed truth that, at this moment, He has His dwelling place in every believer. May we live each day in the knowledge that our eternity is secure in the hands of our loving Lord. To Him be all the glory, forever!!!
Father thank you this day and Your Word that is life changing and life sustaining. Lord pour out Your abundant blessings over my friend and family today. Lord thank You that You are preparing us for our heavenly home. Lord thank You that You gave us the Holy Spirit as a pledge, guaranteeing our future hope in You. Lord thank You that have made a way for us to not only have a future home with You but we can experience abundant life in You now. Lord use my friend to be the touch of Your love to all today.
