Godly fear

1 Peter‬ ‭1‬:‭17‬-‭19

“Since you call on a Father who judges each person’s work impartially, live out your time as foreigners here in reverent fear. For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.”

‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭1‬:‭17‬-‭19‬ ‭NIV‬‬

We are all of great value to God, so much that God gave His only Son as a sacrifice for us all. There is no greater price. There is nothing more God could have offered. We are that precious to God. We can often evaluate the worth of an item based upon the price someone is willing to pay for it. We see this often in the realm of antiques and collectables. An old, faded painting may not have any intrinsic value and yet if it is a picture of a loved one, it becomes priceless in the eyes of the beholder. When we look at our lives, we do not see much worth because of our sin and frailty, yet the God of all creation says that He loves us. In fact, He loves us so much that He was willing to pay for us, not with money, but with the life of His perfect Son, Jesus Christ. There is no greater exchange. Understanding this, we can be filled with joy knowing that we are highly valued by God Himself. He paid the ultimate price so that we can be free and live with Him forever. He did this because He loves us. Our salvation was given to us freely by God's grace and yet the high cost of our redemption is incalculable. God gave His only begotten Son to redeem us from penalty and power of sin and death.. and to free us from the curse of the Law. The price that the immortal, invisible, eternal Son of God paid to save the fallen race of sinful humanity, is beyond our comprehension. Living a holy life should not be a considered a burden or a strain but should be motivated by a reverential fear and unquenchable awe of God, combined with a heart of unending gratitude for the incredible price that God was prepared to pay for the price of our redemption. Never should the cost of our salvation be treated lightly nor should we diminish the incredible liberty that we have been given in Christ. Every blood-bought child of God should have a holy fear of our heavenly Father. Through Peter, Paul and the other New Testament writers God has given Christians clear standards on how to live a Godly life in this Church age, and He is the One Who judges the work and words of each of His blood-bought children, whether it is done in the flesh or carried out in spirit and truth. And so we are called upon to conduct ourselves in reverential fear and grateful thanks, for all that He has done for us during our sojourn on earth!!!

Father thank You for this day that in Christ we have been made Your child. Lord let You abundance be my friend and families portion today. Lord thank You for Your Word of truth and the Godly instruction it contains on how to live to Your praise and glory. Lord keep us low at the cross and broken in heart before You in reverential fear and never ending gratitude for the enormous price that was paid for our salvation at Calvary. Lord use my friend to be the light of Your love to all today. Daddy we love You amen. Be a blessing. Love ya !
