God’s Wisdom & Understanding

“My son, if you accept my words and store up my commands within you, turning your ear to wisdom and applying your heart to understanding— indeed, if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding, and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God. For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding. He holds success in store for the upright, he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless, for he guards the course of the just and protects the way of his faithful ones. Then you will understand what is right and just and fair—every good path. For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul. Discretion will protect you, and understanding will guard you.“

‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭2‬:‭1‬-‭11‬ ‭NIV‬‬

We have to take the Word of the Lord to heart and to store up its truth deep within our heart.

There is only one source of wisdom. To look anywhere else is foolish and wasteful. All wisdom is from the Lord God, and He gives it to whomsoever He will.

Knowledge and understanding are also His gifts, and He speaks them by His Spirit and His Word. Wisdom, knowledge, and understanding are related aspects of the ability to judge rightly, know the right moral or practical solution for unique dilemmas or situations.

They are the means by which you can identify truth and error, right and wrong, good and evil. They are the conditions for a blessed and successful life of peace and righteousness.

Wisdom is not measured by IQ, degrees, or achievements. Wisdom is superior to these.

Human intelligence is not a source of wisdom. A humble laborer of modest intelligence that fears and obeys God will have greater wisdom than a proud genius trusting his analytical but depraved mind.

Wisdom and character are worth more than intelligence. Human education is not a source of wisdom. Education can be a handicap. For the Lord giveth wisdom.

One sees God in every aspect of his simple life, another hallucinates about big bang theories and his monkey mother. God has declared war against this approach to wisdom. In verse 6 we see that God is the one that gives us Godly wisdom and it comes from His mouth and His understanding. This is saying to us that if we want to be wise, we must read the Bible, as it records the things that He has spoken. As we read God's Word, we will receive His knowledge and understanding about any issue that we desire to know about.

When we have a certain problem that we are dealing with in our lives, we should do two things immediately: seek God in prayer about the problem, and search the Bible as to what it says about the problem.

Wisdom entering our hearts is vital wisdom that is the key to consistent victory. When wisdom enters our hearts it becomes part of us. Wisdom becomes who we are and what we do because of that. When that happens, knowledge will be pleasant to our souls. Wisdom and knowledge will protect and guide or preserve and keep us from the enemy, the flesh, and the world!!!

Father, thank you for this day and for waking us up and setting us on our way. Lord, pour out your abundant blessings upon my friend and family today. We are grateful that You have left us the Bible with all of its wisdom and knowledge so we do not get lost in this life or overwhelmed by the problems that we face. Lord, we thank you that for every problem we face, You are there to help as we find the answer and overcome the situation. Lord, give us the grace to do that. Lord, use us to share the Gospel of Grace to all today.

Father, we love You. Amen
