2 Corinthians 12:9-10
“But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.“
2 Corinthians 12:9-10 NIV
We will experience the power of God in our lives when our hearts catch fire with the Holy Spirit. His power enables us to be His witness throughout the world, accomplishing a mission we cannot carry out in our own strength.
Men and women through the centuries have been able to accomplish more than they could have imagined because the power of the Holy Spirit was at work in their lives. In this generation we need Spirit-filled believers with hearts on fire who are willing to step beyond the boundaries of their own abilities.
We need believers who dare to do great and mighty works in the name of Christ and in His power as He leads them in life. Instead of living by fear, we must live by faith in what God says in His Word. Instead of falling into despair, we must engage in hope, in the promises of God. Instead of worrying in our circumstances, we must be bold and courageous in the power of God.
Perhaps we will resolve to be one of the weak ones who hold to the promise of God for His power perfected in weakness, declaring with Paul, “When I am weak, then I am strong!" and adding, “I can’t but He can!” Oh, if only you and I could display that kind of dependency on Christ. It isn't something far fetched.
It just takes intentional effort each time our weaknesses or hardships come into view. Effort to forsake dependence on ourselves and put our trust in God alone. Did you notice the more Paul boasts in his weaknesses, the more Christ's power rests on him? And the same is true for us.
What a great testimony to the grace of God and the power of Christ, which is made perfect in our weaknesses. No matter what you and I are facing and no matter what tests and trials we may be required to face, we have God's full assurance that His grace is sufficient for all eventualities that may come our way.
May we like Paul be able to boast all the more gladly in our own weaknesses and frailty so that the power of Christ may rest upon us to the praise of His Name!!!
Father, thank You for this day and the strength and grace to walk in it. Lord, pour out Your abundant blessings over my friend and family today. Lord, open our eyes to how our weaknesses give You the opportunity to show others Your power through our witness. Remind us that others are watching how we respond to the troubles and trials of life, and that they are looking for strength to overcome their own problems. Lord, use our lives to encourage others. Lord, use us to bless others through their hardships and help them to smile and continue being faithful in spite of their weaknesses.
Father, we love You. Amen !
