God’s Faithful Help Of Endurance

1 Corinthians‬ ‭10‬:‭12‬-‭13

“So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don’t fall! No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.”

‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭10‬:‭12‬-‭13‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Sometimes Scriptures get misinterpreted an awful lot. This one gets changed up a bit and well-meaning folks often say it this way. God won’t give you more than you can handle. And truthfully it’s just not what the verses say is it?

In fact, perhaps one of the greatest temptations we face is to think that we can handle anything in this life on our own. Our track record would prove differently, wouldn’t it? It doesn’t take any of us very long to look into our past to find something we wish we could change. Something we tried to do without God’s help.

Every moment we face is one that, without God’s help, we’ll mess up. In the face of temptation, God has promised us two things: (1) a way out, and (2) the power to stand up under trial. Can we truly believe this?

Yes, of course, because Jesus demonstrated this power, God promised us this power, and we can look at brothers and sisters in Christ who have triumphed by this power! However, we must not think that the way out means that we are not going to face challenges, hardships, or difficulties.

Character is produced by both refusing to give into the temptation and also refusing to give up during the challenges we face for remaining faithful. We live indeed in a tempting world, where we are compassed about with snares. Every place, condition, relation, employment, and enjoyment, abounds with them; yet what comfort may we fetch from such verses.

Temptations are human experiences, they are usual or typical. Temptations are never unique experiences to us. We can never have a temptation that has not been experienced by millions of others. Circumstances differ but basic temptations do not. Everyone faces temptation.

But God knows how much or little we can handle, and He doesn’t allow us to experience more than we can handle. When you are facing a temptation that seems insurmountable, remember that God gives you strength to get through it. Even if you fail and give into temptation, God gives you a way back to a right relationship with Him through repenting of your sin.

Because of His great love for you, God is always on your side. He is always rooting for you. We are reliant on God to help us through these difficult temptations, which can serve to grow our faith. It is important for us to recognize that we are never strong enough to stand on our own.

We are certainly privileged to be saved by grace through faith in Christ and to have been freed from the curse of the Law through His sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection, but we must maintain an attitude of eschewing that which is evil and seeking to do that which is righteous in the eyes of the Lord.

We are certainly privileged to be saved by grace through faith in Christ and to have been freed from the curse of the Law through His sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection, but we must maintain an attitude of eschewing that which is evil and seeking to do that which is righteous in the eyes of the Lord.

We should not become smugly complacent in our privileged position in Christ and the freedom that we enjoy in our walk as a believer, for on those occasions when we think we are standing firm in the faith we can all too easily fall into sin. As Paul warns: "Let him who thinks he stands, take heed that he does not fall."

Although there is no sin that cannot be cleansed by the efficacious blood of Jesus and despite being positioned in Christ, accepted in the Beloved, enclosed in the everlasting arms of our God and Saviour, and standing on a Foundation that can never fail, we must nevertheless heed the warning in this verse, lest like Israel we fall into complacent unbelief.

Although there is nothing that can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord, and although there is no sin that cannot be forgiven, we must be acutely aware that any one of us may be tempted to fall into sin and should we become over-confident in our spiritual walk, the danger of falling into sin is significantly increased.

We must never forget that all sin dishonours the God Who bought us, grieves the Holy Spirit, and is a terrible reproach on the gospel of Christ. Let every Christian who thinks he is standing securely take heed that we do not become careless, complacent, or smugly over-confident, lest we dishonour our Saviour by falling.

But let us never forget that the temptations and trials in our lives are no different from what others experience. And let us never forget that God is faithful and has promised that He will not allow the temptation to be more than we can bear, but in His grace will provide a way out of it so that we can endure it. We should always live in dependence on the one who is strong enough to hold us securely. And wise enough to guide us through each day!!!

Father thank You for this day and the glorious promises in Your Word that we are eternally secure in Christ. Lord let Your abundant blessings flow like a river upon my friend and family today. Lord we pray that we would never abuse the freedom we have in You. Lord we pray that we may become increasingly conscious to take heed of our spiritual walk in You lest we also fall into sin. Lord use my friend to be a bold witness of Your amazing grace to all today. Be a blessing

Father, we love You. Amen !
