Isaiah 62:1-5
“For Zion’s sake I will not keep silent, for Jerusalem’s sake I will not remain quiet, till her vindication shines out like the dawn, her salvation like a blazing torch. The nations will see your vindication, and all kings your glory; you will be called by a new name that the mouth of the Lord will bestow. You will be a crown of splendor in the Lord’s hand, a royal diadem in the hand of your God. No longer will they call you Deserted, or name your land Desolate. But you will be called Hephzibah, and your land Beulah; for the Lord will take delight in you, and your land will be married. As a young man marries a young woman, so will your Builder marry you; as a bridegroom rejoices over his bride, so will your God rejoice over you.”
Isaiah 62:1-5 NIV
What a glorious statement. God finds His pleasure in us. In fact, in God’s eyes, His most beautiful and precious creation is His people. The church is God’s handiwork, the bride of Christ, in whom God finds His eternal pleasure. It is time that we stopped listening to the discouraging words of the devil and started understanding the glory, dignity, relationship and purpose we have in God. I cannot imagine anything more breathtaking than the thought that our God delights in us. Perhaps it is because I feel a sense of total unworthiness. I know how sinful my own heart can be, and I know that God sees much more of my sin than I’m aware of. How could God delight in me? This verse certainly highlights the intensity of God’s beautiful attributes, especially His grace, mercy, compassion, patience, and love. Moreover, this verse reminds me of the glorious nature of our union with Christ. We know that for all of eternity, the Father has delighted in the Son, and the Son has delighted in the Father. Now that we are united to Christ through faith, the Father’s love for us is no less than the love that He has for His Son. This should blow our minds. God’s ultimate purpose in making us glorious is to have a people for Himself, that we may have fellowship with Him. Verse 2 tells us, “The nations will see your righteousness, and all kings your glory.” And Isaiah 60:3 declares, “Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawn.”
Why, then, does God make us glorious? Why does Hecsave us? Why does God send the Holy Spirit into our lives? So that we may shine. We are the display of God’s splendor, that the nations will come to His light in us and be saved. Through Zion God purposes to save the people of the world. Thus, we are to be witnesses to the world through our lives and our words. Our purpose is not to make money or get rich. Our purpose is to shine like stars in the universe, holding forth the word of life to kings and nations. So Jesus told us, “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth” (Acts 1:8). If we are Christians, God has given us a new name. We are the most beautiful and precious creation of God in all of history, designed to display God’s glory. Yes, we were once darkness, but now we are light in the Lord. We are God’s delight, God’s inheritance, God’s handiwork. He glories in us and we in Him. He has loved us from all eternity and He will love us to all eternity. Even now, we are a royal diadem in His hand!!!
Father thank You for this day and for redeeming us through Christ. Lord let Your abundant blessings be my friend and families portion today. Lord thank You for the new name we have in You. Lord thank You for securing our freedom, promising our provision, and establishing bread of life for us. All of the symbolism in these verses, it humbles and excites us. Lord we are inspired to share this, to share Your promises. Give us opportunity, and let us be found faithful and obedient. Lord be glorified by our lives today, we don't want to squander this redemption. Lord us my friend to be Your witness to all today. Daddy we love You amen. Be a blessing. Love ya !
