God’s comfort

  ‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭1‬:‭3‬-‭6

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. For just as we share abundantly in the sufferings of Christ, so also our comfort abounds through Christ. If we are distressed, it is for your comfort and salvation; if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which produces in you patient endurance of the same sufferings we suffer.”‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭1‬:‭3‬-‭6‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Paul in these verses explains the comfort of God overflowing in our lives. Many people think that when God comforts us, our troubles go away. But if that were always so, people would just turn to God for a relief of pain rather out of our love for Him. We must understand that being comforted means receiving strength, encouragement, and hope to deal with our troubles. The more we suffer and endure, the more comfort God gives us.

If we are ever feeling overwhelmed, we must let God comfort us. Through the different obstacles that come our way, God allows us to learn to correct ourselves and help others with similar circumstances. Then the beauty here is not just so that we might receive His comfort but that as we are comforted by God Himself, then we can be a reflection of His comfort to others. So that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. Jesus suffered and was afflicted for the sake of righteousness, and He warned that in this world we too would suffer tribulation. But He also gave us great comfort and encouragement with the words, "but be of good cheer, for I have overcome the world." Just as the sufferings of Christ brought salvation and comfort to those who believe so too the suffering and pain that we endure for the sake of righteousness, will be beneficial for the sanctification and comfort of others in their spiritual growth. It will have a knock-on effect so that the comfort we receive from the Lord will pour forth Godly comfort and encouragement to others which will have an impact on their Christian growth and spiritual well-being. When we are called upon, by our heavenly Lord, to suffer persecution and pain, may we also, like Paul, have the grace to be joyful in our tribulation and allow the beautiful comfort that we receive from our heavenly Father to freely flow-out to others from us, so that they too may be comforted with the same comfort that we have received, so that they too may be enabled to patiently endure whatever difficulties they may have to go through as together we journey through life, towards our heavenly destination. Dear brothers and sisters; God has given us the gift of comfort in times of trial a comfort that leads to the kind of hope that people around us desperately need. And He has ordained that His comfort be passed-on by us to others as we enter into loving and nurturing relationships with them in their times of suffering. As you go through the days of life, think about how you can bring comfort to others around you. As children of God, we can have peace through the discipline of hardship and the fruit that is being produced in us. God loves to give us beauty for ashes!!!

Father thank You for this day and for Your great grace and mercy. Lord let Your abundant blessings flow from the storehouses of heaven upon my friend and family today. Lord thank You for all the comfort and grace that You have bestowed on us without measure. Lord thank You that no matter what sufferings and pain we may be called upon to face, help us to rejoice in our suffering, knowing that You are a God of great comfort and that Your grace is sufficient. Lord we pray that our lives and witness may be a comfort and encouragement to others so that we may all attain to the unity of the faith. Lord use my friend to be a bold witness of Your mercy and grace to all today. Daddy we love You amen. Be a blessing. Love ya !!
