From slave to heir

Galatians‬ ‭4‬:‭4‬-‭7‬

“But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption to sonship. Because you are his sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, “Abba, Father.” So you are no longer a slave, but God’s child; and since you are his child, God has made you also an heir.”

‭‭Galatians‬ ‭4‬:‭4‬-‭7‬ ‭NIV‬‬

We know many men who are fathers, it’s a title they carry because they have a child but you wouldn’t be comfortable calling them daddy. But because God’s Spirit dwells in us, we have an intimate relationship with God. He’s not only our Heavenly Father, He’s our daddy and that changes everything. Whenever a child is born, there is a change in status for various people. When a first child is born, someone becomes a mother for the first time or a father. The birth of a child can confer the new status of grandparent on someone or perhaps uncle or aunt. A new child can turn a first child into a brother or a sister for the first time. And we could extend this to cousins and the like. But the one thing that never happens when a child is born is that someone who is already alive becomes him or herself a child, someone’s son or daughter for the first time. If someone else in our family has a baby, we do not via that birth become a son for the first time. We do not become someone’s child on account of a birth anywhere in our family or circle of acquaintance. To be in existence means that every person is already someone’s child and that status cannot befall you twice. Except, that is, for that birth Paul describes in Galatians 4. When the time was right in God’s great plan of salvation, a child was born and everyone who by faith became associated with that child eventually, those people also became new children all over again. As believers on the Resurrection side of Calvary, we are no longer considered to be servants of God but His sons, not because of any righteous deeds that we have done, but only because of what He did at Calvary on our behalf. For by grace are we saved not of works, lest any man should boast. A son has many privileges and positions that are denied a slave, for a son is born of his father, bone of his father's bone and flesh of his father's flesh, and not simply employed or legally owned by his master. A son receives the same nature and essence of his father, while the servant remains detached, disowned, and disconnected from family ties. As believers on the Resurrection side of Calvary, we are partakers of the divine nature by grace through faith in Christ. Although we are already God's children, He has not yet shown us what we will be like when Christ finally appears, but we do know that when we see Him we will be like Him, for we will see Him as He really is.

Because the birth of Jesus means that the people of God become full children of God. We become full and permanent members of the family headed by a God we now are given permission and encouragement to call “Abba, Father.”  Daddy.  What an incredible change in status!!!

Father thank You for this day and that by faith in Christ, we have been born into Your family and am no longer a slave to sin, but a born-again son of God. Lord let Your abundant blessings be my friend and family’s portion today. Lord thank You for the many privileges and promises we have received through identification with You our Savior. Lord thank You that we are no longer a slave, but a son or daughter and heir, through You. Lord we pray that we may live as a dutiful child, doing only those things that are honoring to You. Lord use my friend to be the touch of Your love to all today. Daddy we love You amen. Be a blessing. Love ya !!
