Colossians‬ 2:8-10‬

“See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ. For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form, and in Christ you have been brought to fullness. He is the head over every power and authority.”

Throughout all the history of the world, man has pursued an understanding of what caused what is, why it is, what it is, where it’s going, what its intent and purpose is. Man has sought to explain the reasons for existence, the purpose of living. The best plan for keeping on track is focusing on Christ and His Will for you.

This is easier said than done in the verse 8 we are warned not to be deceived or taken captive by philosophy. These things depend on human tradition instead of heavenly wisdom. However, we are given powerful incentives to stay the course by knowing a few things about Christ.

First, the fullness of the Godhead gives its complete expression of the divine nature in Christ. Since Jesus is the exact image of God and His fullness dwells in Him, this should trump everything. Many things try to dethrone Jesus, one of the most subtle ways is through ideas, traditions and philosophies that are seemingly harmless.

However we must evaluate in light of what is revealed about God through Christ and His Word.

Secondly, we also have been brought into fullness in Christ. This is an amazing statement, it almost seems impossible. We are made full in Christ, filled with Him living in us and we will continue to experience this saturation.

If we have been given completeness and fullness in Christ then philosophies and traditions that are counter to this should have no power to deceive.

Lastly, Christ is the head over every power and authority, why not let the source of life dictate worldviews. To be free you have to know and remain in the truth.

This comes through the transformation of renewing your mind to God’s word and knowing His will concerning you.

I don't know about you, but as a Christian I have a sense of that completeness, don’t you? My truth search is over. Is yours? I’ve found it. I can’t even conceive of ever needing anything outside of Jesus Christ!!!

Father, thank You for this day and for Jesus and that all things were made by Him and for Him. Lord open the floodgates of heaven and let Your abundant blessings flow over my friend and family today. Lord we realize that without You there is no meaning in life. Lord keep us from being influenced by the enticing arguments, idle philosophies and crude notions of human traditions, which inevitably look for answers to life, anywhere except to the truth, which is only found in You as recorded in the Word of God. Lord thank You that You are the only way, the only truth and the only life. Grow in grace and in a knowledge of today. Lord use my friend to be someone’s blessing today.
