Hebrews 3:12-14
“See to it, brothers and sisters, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called “Today,” so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness. We have come to share in Christ, if indeed we hold our original conviction firmly to the very end.”
Hebrews 3:12-14 NIV
The reason why many Christians cannot experience God’s abundant grace is because they don’t really believe. In the four gospels, wherever Jesus went signs and wonders happened. But in Nazareth, where Jesus lives, He did not perform that many miracles. Matthew 13:58 says that it was “because their lack of faith.” Perhaps you and I have received God’s salvation by faith, but we might not have accepted the guidance of the Holy Spirit by faith, and thus enter into the abundance of God. If we don’t really know the Lord’s authority and abundance, we might not really understand that He’s the true God who rules all things in the universe, and that He’s still watching every one of His children. When our eyes in faith are opened, we’d know that God is almighty and abundant, and thus we will naturally believe in Him and depend on Him from the depth of our life. An unbelieving heart refuses to trust God. An unbelieving heart has not faith. It is fear that paralyzes and turns the heart into a stagnant pond. When fear is left to fester, it breeds unbelief and falling away. Genuine faith overcomes fear by standing firm in the present nearness of the living God, even in a desert. God desires that we move with faith from one day to the next. Yesterday’s faith does not stay there. It builds and supports the faith needed for today. A faith that endures is a gracious opportunity to walk with God from beginning to end. Faith is for the in-between, the journey. Faith that endures thanks God for uncertainties in the way. It is in these uncertain seasons that we get to hold fast to what God has given. We get to trust. We get to believe. We must be alert and careful. We won't let ourselves, or anyone else in our circle of Christian relationships, start to drift away from Jesus. We must maintain a passionately and actively lived faith in Jesus as Lord because an inactive faith is not genuine faith. We need to be awake and alert. We must choose not to drift away or have our hearts turn away from God. We must be vigilant and passionate in living my faith in Jesus. We need to challenge our fellow believers to be vigilant and passionately living their faith in Jesus each day. Now is the only time we can take any action, we can only put our faith into action in the present. “Today” emphasizes the urgency of encouragement and obedience, the past has already happened and the future is always in front of us, but today we have an opportunity to turn to God in obedience. May we take great care we do not allow unbelief to tarnish our testimony, destroy our reward, and dishonour our God!!!
Father thank You for this day and for the book of Hebrews and the warnings it gives to believers to hold fast to the truth of God's Word and to be careful that seeds of doubt and unbelief are not allowed to germinate and grow in our heart. Lord let Your abundant blessings flow over my friend and family today. Lord give us wisdom and discernment as we read through the whole council of Your Word and guide us into all truth, as You have promised. Lord thank You that in You we can all live a victorious life to Your honour, if we trust Your Word and obey Your will. Lord we pray that You would align our thoughts to Your thoughts and our will to Your will so we do not go astray, or fall from grace through a doubting heart, but stand fast in the evil day. Lord use my friend to be the light of Your love to all today. Daddy we love you amen. Be a blessing. Love ya !
