DO NOT GROW WEARY

Galatians 6:9

And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. Galatians 6:9, NKJV

Have you ever started something new, full of excitement, energy, and purpose, only to lose steam halfway through? Sometimes we don't even realize it's happening, but we start drifting from our goals and plans. Maybe the plans changed or the work was harder than we imagined. Maybe unforeseen obstacles presented themselves.

Paul knew that many of the believers in the early church experienced this spiritually. They experienced the genuine conviction of the Spirit, trusted Christ for salvation, and sought to live a life of obedience. But then they experienced persecution. Divisions arose where there was once unity. Their old ways started to pop up again. Paul's encouragement to believers all those generations ago is still applicable to us: don't give up! Keep walking. Keeping moving forward in Jesus' footsteps. Keep seeking to be obedient in everything you do because it isn't in vain.

We might be tempted, after we have walked with Jesus for a while, to believe that it might be in vain. Our service, our worship, our giving, our fellowship, does any of it really have significance in the kingdom? Will we ever see the reward? The fruit of our labor? Because we don't always get to reap the harvest, we might be tempted to stop sowing seeds in the ground.

But Paul reminded us that, though we may not see the reaping, we can continue to drop the seeds and cultivate the soil. Ultimately, we aren't responsible for the harvest. Only God does the harvesting. We are but laborers in His field. Though we might not always see the results, we can trust and not lose heart in the midst of the work!

May the Lord encourage us. May He sustain the work of our hands that we can see the result of our effort in Christ. If we remain faithful to the task that God has assigned to our hands, the question is not if we shall reap, but when we shall reap. In God's time the reaping will come. The Word of God will never fail!!!

Father, thank You for this day and for the Holy Spirit who leads, guides, and directs our way. Lord, open the windows of heaven and shine down Your abundant blessings upon us and our family today. Lord, help us to continue to do the little things that we should do even when we are frustrated at the lack of results. Lord, help us to see that these instructions are building our character for use in Your kingdom. Lord, we praise You for Your mighty power, wisdom, and providence. Lord, sometimes we grow weary; be our strength today. Lord, use us as the example of You to all who cross our path today.

Father, we love You. Amen.
