2 Timothy 4:17-18
“But the Lord stood at my side and gave me strength, so that through me the message might be fully proclaimed and all the Gentiles might hear it. And I was delivered from the lion’s mouth. The Lord will rescue me from every evil attack and will bring me safely to his heavenly kingdom. To him be glory for ever and ever. Amen.”2 Timothy 4:17-18 NIV
In these few verses of scripture we see some of the most wonderful principles of our Christian lives. The sad truth, though, is that light always shines it’s brightest in the midst of darkness. Sometimes we fail to see the light that is there for us. Sometimes we lose focus or direction, and it takes a time of darkness to turn us again to the light. In our lives we find that there are times that things go well for us. The family may all be well and healthy, the job may be going good, the bills are paid and we are comfortable, relaxed and we are enjoying life. It doesn’t take long for us to get to the place that we are too comfortable for our own good. It is then that the devil will begin to lure us with pleasure, treasure and entertaining distractions. The Lord stood with me and gave me strength. What an awesome picture of the Lord standing with us and giving us strength. He is standing with us today we are not alone. He is closer than we could ever think or imagine. He is more interested in us than we realize, and He will give us the strength we need. Paul wanted to encourage Timothy and assure him that God is faithful to keep His promises, that the Lord would rescue him from every evil deed and every corrupt happening, and that God would bring him safely to his heavenly kingdom, for in Christ is all the power and all the glory forever and ever, amen. This encouraging comment from the apostle Paul is as relevant today as it was in those early destructive days of the newly formed Christian church. We have the assurance of almighty God that the Lord will rescue us from every evil deed, for He has promised to bring all who trust in the name of Christ to the safety of His heavenly kingdom.Although we live in a sin-sick world that is at enmity with God and at war with His anointed Son and although we see the most shocking corruption saturating the highest offices of government, God is faithful to fulfil His many precious promises to those that are His. And although we are witnessing a satanically-inspired hatred for the things of God, an utter contempt and disdain for the glorious gospel of Christ, and a Church that is deceiving and being deceived in so many ways, we need not be afraid, for Christ has won the victory on our behalf and we have this promise. Paul reminds us in these verses that God has not forsaken us and will help us to do the work that He gives us to do. And that for His own honor and glory!!!
Father thank You for this day and the blessing of eternity with You. Lord let the abundance of Your blessings flow from the windows of heaven upon my friend and family today. Lord what an inspiration to read this final letter that Paul wrote to Timothy and to realize that despite all the terrible things that he was facing, he encouraged us all to hold fast to the truth of God's Word, which can never be broken. Lord thank You, that You have promised to rescue all Your children from every evil deed and to bring us safely home into our heavenly inheritance in Christ. Lord to You be all praise and glory forever and ever. Lord use my friend to be the light of Your love to everyone today. Daddy we love you amen. Be a blessing. Love ya !!
