Believer’s Authority

Titus‬ ‭2‬:‭15

“These, then, are the things you should teach. Encourage and rebuke with all authority. Do not let anyone despise you.“

‭‭Titus‬ ‭2‬:‭15‬ ‭NIV‬‬

The world often accuses believers of Jesus Christ as being arrogant or narrow-minded because of the believer’s certainty concerning the things they believe. Though there are certainly times when believers do behave in an arrogant manner, the Godly believer is certain of his beliefs, because he is certain of his authority.

According to verse 15, the believer can speak, and exhort, and rebuke the truths found within the Bible with all authority. Why? Because the Bible is the Word of the God that has all authority.  It is not therefore arrogance which causes a believer to be unwilling to waver on what he believes, but faith in the written Word of their God.

The behavior of believers should set an example to the ungodly, who speak against the truth. Their conduct and character should convict evil-doers of their wrongdoing. Living Godly lives should act as a testimony to the truth of the gospel of grace.

The way believers behave and the words they speak should serve to promote the Word of truth and honor the Lord. We are not to imitate the ways of the world, but to talk about things that are true and to speak of things that are honorable and doctrinally sound.

This verse challenges us to embrace our role as ambassadors of Christ. It prompts us to live in a manner that reflects the authority and truth of God's Word. It encourages us to boldly share the Gospel, exhorting and reproving with love and humility when necessary.

Furthermore, this verse reminds us to not be discouraged or swayed by the opinions or criticisms of others. We are not to allow anyone to despise or undermine the message of truth that we proclaim.  Instead, we are to stand firm in our convictions and trust in the authority of God's Word.

In our daily lives, this verse encourages us to walk in obedience to God's Word and to be bold in sharing His truth. It prompts us to be diligent in studying and understanding Scripture so that we can accurately communicate its teachings. It also reminds us to approach exhortation and reproof with humility and a spirit of love, seeking the restoration and growth of others.  May we embrace the authority and truth of God's Word, boldly proclaiming His message and encouraging others to live in accordance with His teachings.

Let us not be deterred by criticism or opposition, but continue to faithfully fulfill our calling to be ambassadors of Christ in the world. May we hold fast to the gospel of truth and live lives that encourage others, support our leaders, and honor our God and Savior!!!

Father, thank You for this day and the strength to walk into it. Lord, open the storehouses and let Your abundant blessings fall over my friend and family today. We pray that we would be a living testimony to the truth of Your Word and an encouragement to our brothers and sisters in Christ. Lord, we pray that we would speak the truth in love and be guided by Your Spirit to exhort and reprove with Biblical authority, if necessary, for Your greater praise and glory. Lord, use each of us to be a bold witness of Your mercy and love.

Father, we love You. Amen
