ASK, SEEK, AND KNOCK

Matthew 7:7-8

Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you. will find; knock and it will be apened to you. For everyone who asks receives and he who seeks finds and to him who knocks it will be opened. Matthew 7:7-8-NKJV

I love the promise of this passage. Ask and you will receive, seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened for you. All who ask, seek, and knock will be satisfied. You know, though, sometimes asking and seeking and knocking does not receive an instant answer; sometimes, we have to persevere and hope and in faith keep asking, keep seeking, keep knocking.

In asking, seeking, and knocking, we can be assured and confident that God holds our life in His loving hands, that He has a plan and a purpose for our lives, and that He is good. He knows the times and seasons. The circumstances and reasons. Keep asking, seeking, and knocking and in all, keep trusting It's not bad to keep asking and keep seeking and keep knocking, because in that process we draw closer to God, see things from His perspective, and align our hearts with His plans and purposes.

Sometimes I wonder if that is the point, that in the asking, seeking, and knocking we find God, not just the answers to our prayers, that it's all about the Giver, not the getting. We may be Ask, Seek, and Knock asking but are we seeking and knocking? God delights to give to the one who will receive. Ask, seek, and knock.

There is an intensity, a deep desire to see the door open; to claim all that is ours in Christ, the focus is on God's will, His kingdom, and His glory, on our most basic needs, daily bread, and on overcoming sin through forgiveness and deliverance. Jesus is reminding us that if we stay after these, not only will we get what we ask for, but we will also be changed in the process. God is a good, good Father!!!

Father, thank You for this day and the breath of Your Word and prayer. Lord, let Your abundant blessings pour out over us and our family today. Lord, thank You so much for the many prayers You have answered. Thank You, Lord, for answering our prayers to be more like You as we grow in an intimate relationship with You. Lord, we confess we are still so very far from Your perfection, but when we look at the distance You have brought us in the past, we can view the future only with excitement knowing that You will lead us on to become more like You in the future. Lord, use us to help others to seek, ask, and find You.

Father, we love You. Amen.
