Are You Light In The Dark

Genesis‬ ‭1‬:‭3‬-‭5

“And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. God called the light “day,” and the darkness he called “night.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day.”

‭‭Genesis‬ ‭1‬:‭3‬-‭5‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Do you realize the power that is in the spoken Word of God? I don’t think we do because if we did, we would open our Bibles every day in complete awe. Think about it. Like when we open up the Bible, we are opening up the Word of God. The God who, when He speaks a world is formed.

And then, obviously, this is just the very beginning of the Bible. What we will see throughout God’s Word is the power of His Word to not just bring a world into being, bring people into being, but to bring supernatural life to sinners.

In the physical creation that fell, and in the spiritual creation in Christ, the first Word that God speaks into the darkness is Light. The breath of the Spirit hovered over the face of the darkness as He breathed the Word of light into the thick blackness of a waiting world.

And in the new creation in Christ, it is the same miraculous move of the Spirit that dispels the deep, dark blackness of sin and death, and floods the soul that has lain dead in trespasses and sins, with His wonderful Word of Light.

God is the one who brings physical and spiritual illumination to all that He has made. He is the source of all truth and justice, and He calls on His creation to walk in that light. It’s the light of God’s justice that exposes wickedness, and it is the light of Christ when we encounter Him that exposes our sin.

When our darkness is revealed, we will respond in one of two ways. We will either flee as we feel the weight of God’s judgment against us, or we will be drawn to the cross in repentance, where we find that God’s mercy is far greater than even our darkest sin.

Just as God brought light into the darkness at the birth of the universe, so He has brought His light into a dark and sinful world at the Incarnation, and Jesus calls on us, as His people, to reflect that light. The Lord does not want us hiding His light, but unashamedly and boldly shining that light for all to see.

May we all be faithful in that call to shine the light of Christ in this dark and fallen world, as we grow in our love for the Light of the world, and the One who spoke into the darkness and created light.

Let us shine the light of Christ into every area of our lives and into the lives of all we meet in the short time we have left on the earth, for His praise and glory.

Let us live as children of light, for the fruit of His light consists of all that is good and gracious, righteous and true!!!

Father thank You this day and blessing of life today. Lord thank You that You are the Father of light and we thank You that we are Your child. Lord let Your abundant blessings flow from the floodgates of heaven upon my friend and family today. Lord help us always to walk in the light of Your truth, live in the light of Your love, and reflect the light of You to this dark and decaying world. Be a blessing.

Father, we love You. Amen !
