A Ransom For Mankin

1 Timothy‬ ‭2:5-6

“For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all people. This has now been witnessed to at the proper time.” 1 Timothy‬ ‭2:5-6‬ ‭NIV‬‬

We do not need to have another human, no matter how mighty, pious, or special, to intercede for us before God. As His children, we can go freely, knowing that God Himself has provided the perfect mediator between Himself and us.

That mediator, alone, is head of the Church and Chief Priest before God on our behalf. His Name is Christ Jesus, and He is our Lord, Savior and brother.

When two sides cannot come to an agreement face to face, it is time for the mediator to be brought in. The mediator will act as a bridge, perhaps as a go between the two parties, or perhaps as a third-party perspective so as to find some means by which both sides can come to an agreement.

The goal of the mediator is some sort of agreement, be it reconciliation, restoration, or restitution, leaving both parties satisfied with the result. Thus Paul, having spoken of God’s desire for all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth, describes the man Christ Jesus as the mediator between the One True God and mankind.

In sending His Son God the Father has shown us even more clearly that there is only one way of salvation and therefore only one God who is able to redeem creation. God pursued us and not the other way around.

We were comfortable in our sins, therefore, God pursued us who were dead in trespass and sin. God Himself pursued us by grace through His Son Jesus Christ whom He appointed as our Mediator. God Himself, in the person of Jesus Christ, became fully human, for God alone was good enough to pay the awful price for sin.

Unless a perfect man from Adam's fallen race could be found to become humanity's perfect sacrifice, mankind as a race would be cursed, condemned, damned, and eternally separated from God, forever. From the foundation of the world, God had only one plan to reconcile fallen, sinful humankind and bring us back into His good graces.

God’s plan for doing this was simple. He said, “I’m going to send forth My Son as a deliverer and after He has died, risen, and stands before Me, I will recognize only Him.”

Here in America, it’s easy to think most people know about Jesus Christ, but there are men and women we see each day who have no knowledge of our Savior. Don’t assume that everyone in your life is familiar with the good news of Jesus Christ.

Whether it’s a coworker, a new friend, or your long-time neighbor, you may be the only person they know who can tell them about the one true God and Savior. Praise God that there is one God and one Mediator between God and every man, woman, and child that has been born into this human race.

Our life of faith is built around God, a relational God motivated by love and a willingness to sacrifice to bring us back into a saving relationship with Him. He asks us to embrace His heart for people with generosity and grace.

Praise God that we can receive salvation through Him by faith. Contrary to what you may have heard, believe or read in some other book, look no further for there is no other way to God the Father but by Jesus Christ, His Son. And praise God that our Mediator can empathise with all of our weaknesses and lives to make intercession for us. And He is our Lord Jesus Christ!!!

Father Thank You for this day and the breathe of Your Holy Word. Lord let Your abundant blessings be my friend and family’s portion today. Lord thank You for being our Redeemer and our Mediator. Lord thank You that through Your death and Resurrection, the gulf between God and us has been forever removed for all who believe. Lord thank You for making salvation so simple. Lord we confess that sometimes we complicate Your amazing gift of salvation, which is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. Lord we pray that many will come to a saving faith in You today. Lord use my friend to be a conduit of Your love to all today. Be a blessing.

Father, we love You. Amen !
