Isaiah 26:7-9
“The path of the righteous is level; you, the Upright One, make the way of the righteous smooth. Yes, Lord, walking in the way of your laws, we wait for you; your name and renown are the desire of our hearts. My soul yearns for you in the night; in the morning my spirit longs for you. When your judgments come upon the earth, the people of the world learn righteousness.”
Isaiah 26:7-9 NIV
When a young couple in love is apart, they long to be with each other again. When a parent is separated from his or her child, the parent misses the child intensely. Do you recognize your spirit aching to be with God? Do you end each day and begin the next longing to be in the presence of God? Let's recognize our God hunger and not only satisfy it by spending time in His presence, but let's also communicate our desire, affection, and need for the presence of our heavenly Father in our lives. Have you ever watched two stubborn people argue? As the tension builds, the situation quickly deteriorates. This seems the way it is right now between the heady secularists, who seem to allege all our woes upon the changing climate, and God, who openly states that He is behind all the threatening changes coming upon the earth. Who will win? There is no question about that. God’s people are in distress, facing trials and the discipline of God. Yet Isaiah not only says God can make, or will make, the way of the righteous level, the prophet says their path is level. The unanimous experience of Christians throughout history is that our path seems to be anything but level. There’s not one believer who has experienced a pain free, worry free path without dips, bumps, sharp turns and dead ends. Even the path of our Lord and Savior, the only perfect and innocent Person who ever lived, didn’t seem to be level. Man's hope comes from speedily learning His lesson. God is not going to renege on revealing His righteousness. Learn or die. Man remains guilty for ignoring and rebelling against God's authority over His earth. People could properly plea guilty, repent and acknowledge God’s righteousness, and yet, they sadly persist in their stubborn ways. God has been so patient, but times are changing. Secular man is becoming more resistive to God’s truth. God’s judgments are undoubtedly at our door, they are here not because of global warming but because God who issues these needed corrective judgments is standing up against this woefully silly but arrogant crowd.
Isaiah reminds us that we are to learn His righteousness. I can think of many easier and more enjoyable ways to learn His Word, but the fight persists but only for a short period. Like in Egypt, the great will become least, “For this time I will send all My plagues on you and your servants and your people, so that you may know that there is no one like Me in all the earth” Oh, that we might early on learn our lessons. May we be part of the present day Christian remnant in the Body of Christ whose souls long for the Lord, day and night. May we be numbered with the few who search the Scriptures diligently and seek Him earnestly. May we not grow weary of well-doing, but tell forth good news of the gospel that Christ died for our sin, that He was buried, and rose again so that whosoever believe on Him would not perish but have everlasting life!!!
Father thank You for this day and how we praise and thank You for the wonderful example of this little remnant of Israel, about whom Isaiah wrote. Lord let Your abundant blessings pour out over my friend and family today. Lord we pray that our souls would long for You day and night and that You would guide us into all truth so that we may tell forth the glories of Your Name, so that the world may know that You are the Lord. Lord use my friend to be light of Your love to all today. Daddy we love You amen. Be a blessing. Love ya !
