Who can compare to God

Writer: Eddie Cox Eddie Cox

‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭40‬:‭25‬-‭26‬

“To whom will you compare me? Or who is my equal?” says the Holy One. Lift up your eyes and look to the heavens: Who created all these? He who brings out the starry host one by one and calls forth each of them by name. Because of his great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing.”

‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭40‬:‭25‬-‭26‬ ‭NIV‬‬

When we are in a personal crisis we often cry out to the Lord. When we are needy, and have no one to help, what else can we do? Needy people, who call upon Him, are precisely those whom God helps. The Lord can help us  with temporal concerns and supply the spiritual necessities we require to sustain us in difficulty. Our cry is not unheard. It is the full and self sufficient who are foolish. The Lord speaks directly to us in verse 25: “To whom then will you compare me, that I should be like him? says the Holy One.” The Lord is turning us away from the folly of idolatry. Men form their own gods and the Bible says even their outward good deeds are corrupted under the examination of the Holy God. Men are swollen with pride, even though their life is frail and fleeting. It is in this condition that the gospel comes to men. God’s Spirit magnifies to men their sin and misery, and enlightens their minds to knowledge of Christ. And the Lord doesn’t refuse any sinner who comes to Him in repentance . It truly is amazing grace, and it is sweet to the redeemed soul. The heavens have declared the glory of God from the beginning of creation, and the earth continues to shout forth His magnificent artistry. The enormous variety of plants, animals, fish, and birds, and the incredible intricacies of the human body, trumpet the magnificence and brilliance of our eternal Creator to all who have a desire to know the truth and yet the same foolish unbelief permeates the mind of fallen man today as it did in the days of Isaiah. His will is not a created will, capable of unrighteousness, as well as righteousness. His justice is a holy justice; His wisdom a holy wisdom, His truth is holy truth, it is not possible that anything He promises or warns will fail. So when His Spirit works savingly upon a soul, His holiness is manifested to that soul. The need of reconciliation becomes indispensable, priority one. Because God is Holy, His love is boundless to those He has made holy in Christ. He delights in their holiness, because He reckons them as righteous as Christ. The more the Christian comes to understand this, the less he strives and worries about his acceptability before God on his own merits. Conversely, the less he is insensitive to his sin and vanity. He realizes he now belongs to the Holy God. May we be those whose eyes are ever open to glorify the wonders of our great Creator, and may we never cease to praise Him for His tender mercies and mighty deeds. May we be those whose ears are ever open to His gracious leading and may our hearts be ever open to His needful correction. If He can lead the vast army of stars, surely, He is capable of leading you and me.  If He calls them each by name, surely, He knows, not just our name, but all that we are and all that we are going through!!!

Father thank You for this day and the amazing writings of the prophet Isaiah and the beautiful truths that He reveals about the Lord Jesus Christ, the Good Shepherd of the sheep Who gave His life as the ransom price for the sin of the world. Lord let Your abundant blessings flow from the windows of heaven over my friend and family today. Lord we praise You for Your magnificent creation and for the salvation of our souls. Lord may we never cease to wonder at Your might, Majesty, dominion, and power, and praise You for Your sacrificial offering on the Cross and glorious Resurrection from the dead. Lord thank You that it is simply by faith in You that we have become Your children. Lord use my friend to be that blessing someone is praying for today. Daddy we love You amen. Be a blessing. Love ya !!
