Stay out of the ditch.

Isaiah‬ ‭42‬:‭16

“I will lead the blind by ways they have not known, along unfamiliar paths I will guide them; I will turn the darkness into light before them and make the rough places smooth. These are the things I will do; I will not forsake them.”

‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭42‬:‭16‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Imagine driving in a blinding blizzard or a hurricane force thunderstorm. You can’t see ahead or behind or sideways. You can’t hear anything but ferocious winds. You don’t know where the road is. Your memory tells you that there are ditches on both sides. You are worried that you might drive into a snow bank or unexpected high water. Even though you have traveled this road before it feels like unknown territory. You are terrified. You are hoping beyond hope that someone will come to direct you through this unknown country. Isaiah  knows the God who saved his people from their enemies despite their repeated waywardness. He knows the God who gave them all the commandments they needed for emotional and spiritual health, but realized that they had broken every one of them. He knows the God who suffered as his people chose the wrong roads in the furies of life. Most of all he knows that his God is the One who will stick with his people and not leave them for a moment, no matter how far off track they had gone. He wants us to know that when we are hoping beyond hope, God has already been and is here and will be ready to direct you. What difference would it make in our lives if we could just trust in a God who loves us that much, who is waiting for us to take His proffered hand and walk with Him, instead of  into the ditch? God is telling Isaiah to tell the people of Israel some words of encouragement in the midst of discouraging times. The cool things are what God says He will do. God says that He will lead and guide. Even when the path is one we cannot see or that we know, He will always be there to lead and guide us.  He will bring light into our lives and help smooth out the rough spots. And He says that He will not forsake us. He won’t leave us. He’ll always be there. When things are tough, when the path doesn’t seem clear, when we feel alone, just remember that God is right there to lead and guide, to shine light into the darkness and that He doesn’t leave or forsake us. That is an encouraging word to remember. Making decisions about our future can often feel like a scary thing. We might feel all alone, unsure of what decision to make. In the next few years of our lives, we have to make many life altering decisions. Things like, careers and future plans. With all those choices, it’s easy to get overwhelmed. Making decisions about our future doesn’t have to be an overwhelming task, however. It’s easy to forget in the midst of all those decisions that God has told us He will not forsake us. That’s good news. We don’t have to make these big decisions alone. We can go to God and ask Him for help. Today’s Bible verse tells us that God will guide us on our paths. That means God wants to show you which path to take. God’s plans for your future are good, so trust Him and go to Him for guidance in your decision-making today!!!

Father thank You for this day and Your amazing grace to walk in it. Lord open the floodgates of heaven and let a river of abundance flow over my friend and family today. Lord when it is our best interests for You to lead us along unfamiliar paths, give us the wisdom, strength, and courage we need to follow You wholeheartedly. Lord help us to lean heavily on You and Your Word, so that we can resist the fear and doubt that would prevent us from trusting in You. Lord thankYou that as we cling to You and Your promises, You will lead us along the paths of Your greatest blessings, breakthroughs, and opportunities. Lord use my friend to boldly proclaim Your victory at the cross to all today. Daddy we love You amen. Be a blessing. Love ya !!
