II Chronicles 32:7-8
“Be strong and courageous; do not be afraid nor dismayed before the king of Assyria, nor before all the multitude that is with him; for there are more with us than with him. With him is an arm of flesh; but with us is the Lord our God, to help us and to fight our battles.” And the people were strengthened by the words of Hezekiah king of Judah.” II Chronicles 32:7-8 NKJV
The Assyrian army was not a minor inconvenience. It was one of the most feared military forces in the ancient world and it was camped outside Jerusalem's walls. Hezekiah did not pretend the threat was not real. He looked at it squarely and then offered his people a perspective that changed everything: "With him is an arm of flesh, but with us is the Lord our God." He was not dismissing the enemy. He was putting the enemy in its proper place. The battle was never between Judah and Assyria. It was between Assyria and God.
Today’s culture is not much different but God is on our side. We are not alone on the battlefield. So don’t allow worry, fear, or doubt to cloud your thoughts and weigh down your heart. Instead, cling to God, His promises, and the hope you have in Him, always remembering to put on the full armor of God.
That reframe is available to us today. The debt, the diagnosis, the broken relationship, the situation that feels impossible, none of it gets to be measured against our resources alone. It has to contend with the Almighty. Stop calculating what we have and start remembering whose we are and who is with us.
Today we don’t have to be afraid of anyone or anything. We have God in us. Don’t believe the enemy’s lies pertaining to you, not for your spiritual walk with the Lord, not for your health, your safety, your family, your finances, nothing. When people come against you speaking evil about you and threatening you with harm remember the scripture verses above.
God sees in everyone’s heart and He knows those who are serious about Him and those who are not. For those who are not as faithful as they should be, I’m sure He works on them until they are in a better place with Him. Why? Because He loves them very much and wants His best for them.
So to those faithful Children of God that are going through a battle today I say this to you. Because of your loyalty and devotion to the Lord He will be there for you. So be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or discouraged because there is a greater power which is the LORD our God.
He will help you and will fight your battle. James 4:7 puts it this way, “Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” Again, I feel if we take seek God intentionally and intimately, God will take care of our business!!
Father, today we surrender the struggles of our lives into Your hands. We know that human strength and the arm of flesh are limited, but You are the Lord our God. We ask that You go before us and fight our battles. Grant us the grace to rest confidently in Your promises and to trust that You are in complete control of every situation. We declare that we will not be afraid or discouraged by the vastness of our problems. We stand firm on Your Word, knowing there are more with us than against us. The Lord our God is our helper, and we are resting upon Your strength today. Be a blessing. Love ya
Father, we love You. Amen
