Stand in God’s presence

Psalms‬ ‭130:3-5‬

“If you, Lord, kept a record of sins, Lord, who could stand? But with you there is forgiveness, so that we can, with reverence, serve you. I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in his word I put my hope.”

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭130:3-5‬ ‭NIV‬‬

The words of the Psalmist are indeed a chilling reality of what we justly deserve as a member of a rebellious, sinful race of people, for if the Lord should mark our iniquities as we justly deserve, which of us could stand?

But God in His mercy, grace, justice, and love sent His Son to pay the penalty of every sin committed by everyman. We enjoy so many blessings from our Lord. When we say that, we usually think of all the physical things we have or the place we live or something else to do with this world. These blessings are indeed great. But much greater than all these are the many spiritual blessings we enjoy in Christ Jesus our Lord. Because God is love and because His love produces compassion and mercy toward us, we can enjoy the benefits of His grace. Since all of us have sinned and still do we deserve to die. Paul says the wages of sin is death but the free gift of God is eternal life in Jesus Christ our Lord. He also tells us that we are saved by the grace of God, not by our own works or doing, so that we have no room for boasting. Because of the sacrifice of Jesus on our behalf and for our sins, we can have the complete forgiveness of all our sins. It is good to know that in our relationship with the LORD, He has removed our transgressions from us, as Psalm 103:12 says, “as far as the east is from the west.” He does not remember our sins anymore. There is an awe inspiring attribute about our Holy God, and that is His overriding forgiveness. It is mind blowing to think about how much we sin against Him, and that He is able to wipe the slate clean and remember our iniquities no more when we sincerely confess our sins in humble submission. And if you decide to enter a relationship with him, you can wait on him, expecting breakthrough. Notice this verse 5 doesn’t call us to wait upon doctors, a friend, a spouse, etc. It also doesn’t say that any of those same things are what will bring you hope. God is the only one you should be waiting on. He is the only one that can bring your breakthrough and his Word is the only thing that can bring you hope. Not doctors, not a family member, not Google, but God and God alone.

The truth is when you wait or put your hope in anything but God, you will be disappointed. God’s grace must never be used as an excuse to not do our best to be all that God wants us to be. It is not a license to sin nor is it permission to not strive for total perfection in all things. It is really a difficult task especially in this generation in which people are becoming liberated but the fear of the Lord makes us triumphant. The blood of Jesus covers a multitude of sins. But we can put our hope in the unfailing love of our Lord because He is full of redemption. He will redeem us from our sins!!!

Father thank You for this day and for Your marvelous and unfathomable grace. Lord open the windows of heaven and shower Your abundant blessings upon my friend and family today. Lord we know we don’t deserve anything from You but punishment, so thank You for Your mercy and Your forgiveness. Lord help us to use this redemption to motivate us to become more like You every day. Lord keep us from forgetting that we have made new in You to do good works which You have already ordained. Lord use my friend to be used by You in Your way and to Your glory in others today. Daddy we love you amen. Be a blessing. Love ya !!
