John 16:12-15
“”I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear. But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. He will glorify me because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you. All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will receive from me what he will make known to you.””
John 16:12-15 NIV
What a comfort to know that the good tidings of great joy, which spoke of the glorious gospel of Christ would not grind to a bitter halt at His departure, but that the Spirit of truth would come to guide us into the many truths that they were not yet ready to receive; truths that could not yet be manifest before the victory on the Cross had been finally won.
When the Spirit of Truth comes. Now, think about this, the Spirit who is in you, He will guide you into all the truth. He will lead you to truth. Think truth. To bank your life on that which is real, that which is true about God, that which is true about you, that which is true about the world.
It’s not fake news. This is truth. However, this is not just truth about today. This is timeless truth that persist through all of eternity. He will guide you into all truth for He will speak out of His own authority, but whatever He hears, He will speak. And He will declare to you the things that are come.
And the whole picture is He’s talking about the Father, the Son, and the Spirit here. He says, Jesus says, “The spirit will glorify me for, he will take what is mine,” so all that belongs to Jesus, He will take it and declare it to you.
And so what belongs to Jesus? Well, verse 15 says, “All that the Father has is mine”. Follow the logic here. All truth, God the Father has belongs to Jesus and the Holy Spirit will take all that belongs to Jesus, which is all that Father has, and He will make it known to you, declare it to you.
Our job is to listen to what the Spirit says to us, for the one that is submissive to the promptings of the indwelling Holy Spirit is that one who will be guided into the truth of the glorious gospel of Christ and be given godly wisdom and discernment in every aspect of our lives!!!
Father thank You for this day and the gift of the indwelling Holy Spirit. Lord open the windows of heaven and let Your abundant blessings flow over my friend and family today. Lord we pray that we may have ears that are spiritually attuned to hear Your voice, eyes that are willing to see spiritual truths, a heart that is submitted to Your guidance and correction, and a teachable spirit so that in Your grace we may be guided into all truth. Lord use my friend to be the touch of Your love to all today. Be a blessing.
