Sovereign Lord

Isaiah‬ ‭40‬:‭10‬-‭11

“See, the Sovereign Lord comes with power, and he rules with a mighty arm. See, his reward is with him, and his recompense accompanies him. He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those that have young.”

‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭40‬:‭10‬-‭11‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Jesus is indeed a good Shepherd. He tends His flock, He cares for it, watches over it and protects it. He gathers the little lambs ( us ) in His strong, loving arms and carries them close to His heart, so they can hear His heart beating for them. And even when He leads us, He does so gently, not forcefully or aggressively. He is a gentle, tender, loving Shepherd who laid down His life for us, His sheep when we consider that the almighty God scoops up His people in His arms and carries them like lambs, close to His heart, we are moved to marvel at His gentle love. Knowing that God has written our names on the palms of His hands and that He sings over us as He carries us along is comforting beyond words. Today some of us need to experience the comfort of our gentle God. Reading of His gentle loving care is a good start. However, God’s gentleness is experienced in an incarnational way in the flesh when we treat others with the gentleness that God has shown us. These verses are a call to rejoice in His reward. Do you constantly have your focus on the next step that you fail to enjoy the progress you’ve made to this point? Is it hard for you to appreciate the victories because you are so afraid that failure is right around the corner? Do you realize you are chasing something that only God can satisfy? To rejoice in God’s generosity, you must declare your bankruptcy. You cannot earn His favor. The joy and satisfaction you are seeking in your life, family, or career, can only be found in Christ. Are you able to enjoy your salvation, or does it always feel like you are on the verge of backsliding into unbelief? When you stop trying to earn your salvation, you will be filled with such unspeakable joy. The God of the Old and New testaments is the same yesterday, today and forever. His Word stands fast forever and His truth never changes but as we journey through the Bible we see a beautiful unfolding of God's gracious character and plan of salvation as we trace the scarlet story of redemption through its precious pages. The Shepherd of God's people is fully and finally revealed in the face of Jesus Christ. Weak, poor, and broken people need a strong, generous, and gentle Savior. And the good news is that is exactly who came to our rescue in the form of an infant more than 2000 years ago. His death and resurrection defeated His and our enemies so that we might trust in His might. He became poor giving up the riches of glory in order that we might become rich. And like a shepherd, our Savior carries us in His loving embrace!!!

Father thank You for this day and Your Word and the truth it contains. Lord open the floodgates of Your abundant blessings and let them flow over my friend and family. Lord may we read, mark, learn and inwardly digest all that You would teach us and may we grow in grace and in a knowledge of You so that we may not be ashamed when we stand before Your throne. Lord You are infinite and almighty, we are small and weak. Lord You pick us up in Your  arms, and You love us and bless us. Lord May my friend and I find shelter in your love today, and may we be shelter for people who are hurting and lead them to Your love today. Daddy we love You amen. Be a blessing. Love ya !!
